mnemo
My husband and I were married nearly a year ago when we eloped for various reasons. We were only married civilly and now our sealing date is coming up. Since we never had a wedding reception before, would it be inappropriate to do so now? Would it be better to treat our sealing as a sort of vow renewal and have a reception for that? Both our families are upset about not celebrating our marriage in the past. Thank you for any thoughtful advice you might have.

Backroads
I know several couples who had full-fledged, wedding-like receptions for their sealings--no matter what they did for their civil ceremonies. No couples expected gifts or anything like that, but they were all fairly similar to wedding receptions. Lots of fun.
rameumptom
Have a reception. I've known others who eloped or were married civilly first without having family around. It is an opportunity to celebrate. You can invite them, and tell them that their presence is desired, not gifts.

Searching_For_The_Truth
I feel that being Sealed to your Eternal Companion is an enormous step in your relationship and one which I know I will sahre with my family and friends. This is definatly a time to celebrate and a reception is a great way to have this celebration. Go for it and enjoy every second of it.
