Calling something something, when it really isn't something, is NOT an example of irony! It's just an example of being wrong about something. Or trying and failing. Or being ignorant of a word's defnition. (And NO, none of those are examples of irony either.)

You know what is an example of irony according to Merriam-Webster?

I bit into an apple and it tasted like chicken.

"What?!?", you say?

b : a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony

c : an ironic expression or utterance

I didn't know about definition number one, the apple chicken though I thought was a perfect example of irony.

I could be wrong, but I expect LM has certain concepts of irony and isn't inclined to accept such as an example of irony. A lot of people, I suspect, also share similar inclinations. Most people would think, "I ordered a vegetarian salad and received a steak." is ironic while "I ordered a sandwich and received a Sprite." is not even though both fit the definition. I could be wrong though, maybe he'd accept as good (in terms of irony not necessarily song writing), "It's ordering chardonnay and receiving chips."

Yes, well. Looking for the definition of such a complex and nuanced term as irony in the dictionary are we? Isn't that sort of like, well...
