Mocha is my 9 month old Labrador Retriever. He is a sweet little dog who just loves everyone he meets. He never barks or growls at all but on occasion after waking from a nap, he will make a wookie type sound when he yawns.

Last night before I went to bed, I took Mocha out and noticed this huge white figure at the back of my yard in the darkness. Mocha started to growl and as you know, I have never heard him do that before but he let out this deep and mean growl. He then started to bark and got all stiff standing his ground. I walked towards this object that Mocha was so spooked over, I could see it was moving and alive. Walking even closer, as my eyes adjusted a little better to the darkness I could see it was just a big old cow sitting at the fence just looking at us.

So I took Mocha down to the fence and let him bark and growl at the cow since I thought it was so funny and had never heard him growl before. The cow just stood there and cut her eyes looking at him. After a couple min, we went back inside but I was rather proud that he growled and barked to protect us from the vicious cow.

Stay tuned for next time as Mocha goes swimming and pees on somebody's lunch. Here is a preview.

That is truly adorable, JcDean78!!!

I adopted my lab/Austrailain shephard and last weekend when I went camping (by myself) we were at a lake and I never thought about her wanting to get in the water, but before I could stop her she just went in. Mind you the water is fed by a glacier run off and is about 38 degrees. She didn't mind either. Wish I would have had my camera!!!

Thanks for sharing that!

I love Blue Dogs! Austrailain shephards are awesome! There is a an old news story but I can not seem to find it where a Blue Dog fights off a gator when his elderly owner falls near a canal in Florida. The dog saves the woman and lives to enjoy it. :)

Well, Jc... this past weekend I went solo camping with my dog and our first night we kept hearing wolves howling. The wolves kept getting closer and closer to the camp and finally I realized they were nearer to our tent than I thought. My dog was going in circles to get out of the tent and when I opened it up she headed right to the car to get in it!!!

SHe didn't defend me at all.... little chicken!!! LOL

(the wolves did pass our campsight and left us alone)

That was funny.

My last dog, no longer with us :( , was a shar-pei (aka wrinkle dog). He had so many folds of skin on his head so he could hardly see anything. Unfortunately this caused him to bark at EVERYTHING. In the middle of the night he would hear something and start barking like crazy. We would walk down the street and he would bark at a tree until we got close enough for him to see it was only a tree. He would also snore, and not a quiet snore either. It would shake the floorboards. Dogs are the best. I would get another if I could, but my soon to be nephew is super allergic. Hopefully he grows out of it. :dontknow:

My sister in law lives with us and she is kind of allergic but she seems to be allergic to a lot of things (So am I, but not to dogs thank goodness!). Dogs are just so much fun to have around and they do so many little things that make me smile every day and uplift us.

Like last night I made a little noise and it got Mocha all hyped up. He sprinted full speed around the room in circles and my wife and I just laughed and laughed and laughed over it. Its little moments like that which make it all worth it.

 Oh I remember when my dogs were young and they did stuff like that, now it's all about naps and sweaters. ;)
