Hopeful1 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Have you ever been shunned at an LDS message board? What I mean by "shunned" is that your posts are viewed but no one responds. I post at another message board for LDS women. Ever since I got enmeshed in a discussion which was started by my asking some questions about temples and worthiness, I feel I am now on some sort of "shun this poster" list. Perhaps I'm imagining things, but when even women you thought were your friends start ignoring you, well ... Sorry to sound like a crybaby. I just wanted to know if anyone here has experienced something like this.
Outshined Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 It is possible that someone reads your post, but has nothing to add at the moment, and so they move on.
Guest Username-Removed Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Yep, sometimes they read and are so entrenched and agree with your comment they simply have no response! Lets hope thats the case.
Guest Yediyd Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 I didn't have anything to add, but I didn't want to seem like I was "shunning".

I'm hoping that's the case as well. I am still reeling from the bashing I took last weekend on that message board, so I would say I am hyper-sensitive right now.Time will tell if I'm just overreacting.
pushka Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Perhaps if you feel you really are being shunned, you could make a thread asking if this is the case/whether you accidentally offended anyone with your comments in the Temple thread, and apologising if that was the case, and let it be known that you appreciate other people's points of view as much as your own, and that you wish to remain 'friends' with others on the site... Good Luck! :)

StrawberryFields Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 If you are being shunned move to another message board.....Like THIS One! :)
Dr T Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Were you talking about things that you are not supposed to openly discuss? If so, maybe people don't want to contribute to that...
Dale Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 I respond to issues in various posts on a topic I read. I rarely if ever respond to a person by name. I sometimes take quotes from other persons posts to coment on. On message boards new posts can get quickly buried under newer posts. Persons can shun you if you express ideas that disagree with them. One has to be cautious not to get into sharing throughts that are unpopular with the wrong people.
Winnie G Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 I have left message boards, I have never been shunned but heaven forbid I did not fall in line with the Molly Mormon crowd and agree with the Republican mantra. I’m a free thinker being someone who likes to read or listen to all points of view. I’m not a Molly Mormon even though I can do all that they do. (bake bread car pool) etc… Be proud of yourself you think out side the box. By the way asking you about temples and maybe your worthiness is none of their business. It was years before I went to the Temple and I think I was more prepared then most Molly Mormon Stafford wives will ever be. Your welcomed here, it takes all kinds. ARK
