Millenium

I have studied various forms of millenium but I do not understand the one spoken of in the LDS Church. Is this some sort of spiritual millenium? Isn't it wrong to try to build a Kingdom of God on earth?

What? I'm unclear on the question here. If you are asking about the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ referred to in Revelation 20:4, then this is the period of 1000 years wherein Christ shall rule this planet in a very literal sense. LDSs (and most of Christianity in general) believe that the governments of this planet will all be put down and the Saviour Himself will take the reins of government.

However, His Rule will not be one of oppression and fascism, for the people of this earth 'shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.' (Isaiah 2:4)

As far as the question about whether it be wrong or right to build the kingdom of God on earth, I don't guess I understand the question. I would say at first, of course we are to build the kingdom of God! But, perhaps I don't understand the question.

The Church of G-d is the kingdom of G-d on earth. But the Kingdom of heaven is different. It will come (See Matt 6:10). But not by or through the arm of the flesh. G-d is the King and he will establish his kingdom. Men will establish kingdoms of men

BTW - Most in our society do not understand Kingdoms but instead think in terms of democracies. Most are against being a part of any Kingdom therefore most churches resemble the kinds of governments to which the people most desire and they are not kingdoms. Most churches other than the LDS seem to be governed according to the best known to man.

Okay, let me see if I can Clarify,

Just before the Millenium, Christ will come to riegn and there will be a thousand years of peace following him appearing.

The beginnign of the millenium, is the completion of the "first ressurection"

D&C 88

94 And another angel shall sound his trump, saying: That great church, the mother of abominations, that made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, that persecuteth the saints of God, that shed their blood—she who sitteth upon many waters, and upon the islands of the sea—behold, she is the tares of the earth; she is bound in bundles; her bands are made strong, no man can loose them; therefore, she is ready to be burned. And he shall sound his trump both long and loud, and all nations shall hear it.

95 And there shall be silence in heaven for the space of half an hour; and immediately after shall the curtain of heaven be unfolded, as a scroll is unfolded after it is rolled up, and the face of the Lord shall be unveiled;

96 And the saints that are upon the earth, who are alive, shall be quickened and be caught up to meet him.

97 And they who have slept in their graves shall come forth, for their graves shall be opened; and they also shall be caught up to meet him in the midst of the pillar of heaven—

98 They are Christ’s, the first fruits, they who shall descend with him first, and they who are on the earth and in their graves, who are first caught up to meet him; and all this by the voice of the sounding of the trump of the angel of God.

This will mark the beginnign of the millenium, and the first and second ressurections.

99 And after this another angel shall sound, which is the second trump; and then cometh the redemption of those who are Christ’s at his coming; who have received their part in that prison which is prepared for them, that they might receive the gospel, and be judged according to men in the flesh.

101 And these are the rest of the dead; and they live not again until the thousand years are ended, neither again, until the end of the earth.

He will take over the government and cause his diciples to go about doing the work of the Lord, Temple work.

I presume that during this time, money and "capitolism" will be abandoned and people will come together to help eachother in all thier neccecities, no more poverty, no more hunger.

The saints will be living among everyone else, as resurrected beings. helping the work to come forth, more than likely the Temples will be in operation 24/7.

Children who died before maturity, will be raised by thier parents in the millenium. and more children will be born as well, untill the very last spirit has a body.

The Kingdom of man will be no more, only the Kingdom of God. and Christ will reign on this earth untill the earth is renewed and recieves its paradasiacal glory.
