ztodd Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Stuff on the internet with photographs and transcripts and audio is available. I believe videos are available for download. I respect that it should not be discussed as it is sacred. Thanks, yes you're right it should not.The source I was wanting a reference for was just something verifying that it was on file at the library of congress. Iggy Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Forgive me for bringing this up again, but how do you know this? Do you have a source you can cite? It was my Temple Preparedness Teacher who told me- by the way he had been Bishop for three different wards, Branch President and Stake President before he was my Temple Preparedness Teacher. I also confirmed this with my last lesson with the Stake Temple Preparedness teacher and my Stake President. ( He passed away last year so I can not even call him and ask him for the reference)I looked through my books and Quad, and I can not find the list of scriptures and references he gave me. I know there was a reference to where it is stated that the ceremony is in the Library of Congress. Yes, the ceremony is on line- anti mormons got into the temples and secretly audio taped the ceremony. How sick can you get to do that? How much hatred they must have that is eating them up like cancer eats away at your body. Hatred eats away at their souls. For that reason I have felt that at the Temple doors we should go through metal detectors and have to relinquish all cell phones, MP3 players, cameras and recording devises. You don't need them in the Temple. Leave them in the car. Quote
Dale Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Out of respect for LDS i do not discuss anything they do not about temple activity. I have read transcripts of temple content, and see the content beautiful. I see a lot of temple content hinted at even though sacred content is not published by LDS. Whenever LDS have felt at liberty do do so they have dealt with Anti-Mormon criticisms of the not to be discussed part of the content. To me if you are not loyal LDS you should not be in the temple. It is unethical to sneak inside a temple to expose its mysteries. I am reading several Evangelical Anti-Mormon books. I do a lot of topical study inside such books. My particular interest has been nature of God, grace works issues, and polygamy issues. Although my church never embraced the plurality of Gods, plural marriage we get hit with issues related to Joseph Smith. Other than with some variations our Anti-Community of Christ literature is identical to what LDS get. The history stuff after 1844 is different. And we have been on different doctrinal and historical tracks since the split in 1844. In recent years the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints went to use the smaller church name. Guest Malcolm Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 The best way to to keep the sacredness of and sense of reverence for the ordinance is to drop the subject, my bretheren. Quote
Dale Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 As long as its not discussing the temple content discussion of temple things are not pro-hibited. I see a lot of temple permitted things discussed all the time by LDS. They just know what they can and cannot get into. I don't see any of the content of this post having to do with anything LDS cannot discuss. I see no reason to see why that discussion needs to stop. I had nothing further to say about it beyond my usual respectful presentation. I see nothing here that FAIR hasn't published in its Topical Guide. It's common knowledge Temple content is available on the internet. I have seen LDS publish temple preparation websites. FAIR links to a good one i saw. They deal with Anti-mormon Temple related issues in a way that does not violate sacred things. To say this is a totally forbidden subject is untrue only certain discussions are forbidden. Linking to an Anti-Mormon website with content on it would be forbidden. But not whats been said so far. Quote
Still_Small_Voice Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Reading thru this thread I am under the impression that someone said the pistol Joseph Smith had when he was murdered was merely loaded with just black powder and no balls. I believe that his pistol was loaded with lead balls and powder. It only fired three times out of five from what I remember when he used it. Quote
