So... oops? While completing my military obligation (during the Vietnam war) I was attached to an Army Intelligence unit. One thing I quickly learned about intelligence operations is not to bet my life on any information about the enemy - especially if such information somehow came through channels associated with the enemy. Often there is deliberate misinformation - in essence a lie that can be more effective than the truth. I would bet that even if Russia did place a bounty on US soldiers in Afghanistan - it is unlikely that any bounty would ever be paid. As a side note there are much better ways to get someone killed other than a bounty - especially in a place like Afghanistan and Russia plays this game very very well. The Traveler Quote
