Hi all,

My name is Karla and I am in the process of becoming a member of the LDS church. None of my family is Mormon, so sometimes it gets hard in that respect. I'm 20 years old and have lived in Salt Lake City for nearly 7 years. My boyfriend is serving a mission in Moscow, Russia and has been gone for nearly 9 months!

I'm excited to be a part of these boards and hope I can contribute positively. :D

Welcome Karlita007. I'm new here myself. Have you set a date for baptism?

Welcome Karla...

We're glad you're here also... Gen Conf will be this weekend and I hope you'll take in as much as possible. Next year I want to come to SLC and stay a couple days near Temple Square and just take in all the sights again. Maybe a few days before going on down to Provo for Educ Week or Women's Conf. Haven't done that in several years... I'll look for your postings...

from the beautiful central Oregon coast...

The sights are beautiful. =) I used to feel bitter because of living near the SLC temple... Now I have pride in it and see it as definitely one of the most beautiful sights in the city--day or night.

Yes Conference! My friend and I tried to get tickets, but they go so fast. Instead I think I will be sinking down into the couch to watch it with my missionary's mom. Nachos anyone?

Now that would be cool. Hey karla welcome aboard. I'm new to this also. Any questions you may have will probably be answered here. I'm already being inspired by what I read in here.

You know, someone else suggested that to me as well, but I don't think I want to wait that long to be baptized, ha ha!

Also, I'm trying not to run the risk of him thinking I'm doing it for any other reason than it's what I personally believe and want to do.

Hio Karla..I live closer to your brothers mission than you...

I am the only member of my family, just like my hubby too. Our kids are active except for my girls from my ex..

Very wise B) Shows good judgement, IMHO. :)

How do you come to live in SLC? Native, or imported?

I am an import. ;P

I was born in South Carolina but lived most of my childhood years in Tennessee. So a very Southern girl. In fact, I plan to move back to the South someday, probably the Virginia area.

My mom's job and marriage brought us to Salt Lake City about seven years ago. It wasn't until this year that I felt moved by the LDS religion, despite repeated efforts by those around me. I don't bend to peer pressure, and I won't convert just to make my life easier. My boyfriend (the missionary) and I faced a lot of struggles because of our religious difference, but each triumph made us stronger.

I'm very excited about becoming part of the Church, and the renewed spiritual fire I now have. The world just seems bigger and brighter, with everything making sense. I'm glad that the Lord has revealed things to me in my own time, so that I was ready to receive it. And I'm very excited about what the future holds. =)
