LDSGator Posted December 9, 2022 Report Posted December 9, 2022 (edited) https://www.axios.com/2022/12/09/kyrsten-sinema-democratic-party-independent-senate Political earthquake time. She pulled a Jim Jeffords, and now the democrats are praying that they can keep Joe Manchin in line. He’s become the most powerful man in the senate right now. NeuroTypical Posted December 9, 2022 Report Posted December 9, 2022 Yep. The Senate Democrats actually increased their lead this cycle, but with Sinema's announcement, they're back to 50/50 with Manchin as a powerful wild card. I dunno. I'm happiest with a divided and ineffective federal govt. So Dem Presidency and Senate, conservative court, and republican house is a quite attractive situation to me. Maybe that makes my right conservative side mad, but I saw what the yay-hoos did when republicans ran the pres/house/senate. Spend like drunken sailors. That's what they did. Quote

Guest Godless Posted December 9, 2022 Report Posted December 9, 2022 Eh, I don't think this will change anything. She's already spent the last 4 years voting like an Independent and causing headaches for Dems. She's still going to caucus with the Dems and she'll probably vote in line with them over 50% of the time. The real question is how safe will her seat be in two years. Quote
