Russian Helicopter Crash - Putin?

A Russian Helicopter that is often used to transport top Russian officials (including Vladimir Putin) crash landed.  Details are unclear as to number of deaths or who was on the helicopter at the time.

Different news outlet reports vary from zero to several deaths.  No one has stated firmly whether Putin was aboard or not.

The strange part of these reports I've been reading is that the article says that it was a "training flight."

1. Why would anyone even speculate that a "training flight" would have Putin aboard?
2. Why would they use the Russian equivalent of Marine One for a "training flight"?

Does that seem strange to anyone else?

Was it something else?  If so, why would anyone speculate that Putin could have been aboard at all?  Maybe it's just a lot of speculation signifying nothing.
