kat20000 Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 I recently got my mission call but something feels off. I’ve prayed and fasted and I’ve done all the textbook actions to try and receive answers. I understand that mission calls are supposed to be assigned through a process of revelation, but is it possible that something about my call is wrong? Something about it just doesn’t sit right with me. Quote
zil2 Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 Welcome, @kat20000! Some things to consider: Quote Each mission call and assignment, or a later reassignment, is the result of revelation through the Lord’s servants. A call to the work comes from God through the President of the Church. An assignment to one of the more than 400 missions presently operating around the world comes from God through a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, acting with the authorization of the Lord’s living prophet. The spiritual gifts of prophecy and revelation attend all mission calls and assignments. --Elder Bednar, "Called to the Work", April 2017 GC (recommend reading the whole talk) Consider that Satan could be sending you "false negatives" in hopes of keeping you from serving. Consider that the Lord is trying your faith. Resolve to serve, no matter what, and eventually (potentially after you are in the assigned mission field), you will receive your confirmation (ala Ether 12:6). Consider too that any mission, faithfully served, is always better than no mission served. Consider that perhaps whatever is wrong will be resolved in the due time of the Lord (e.g. something will happen between now and when you are assigned to leave to change your assignment). Consider that your prayers need to change in some way - for example (since I don't know what you're asking), instead of asking whether the call is "correct", ask what you need to do to prepare to serve, or ask what you need to do to be at peace with the call, or simply what the Lord would have you do today, etc. If you haven't added fasting and extended scripture study, do so. You might consider talking with your bishop, if you think that will help. Other things you can try: put your name on the prayer roll of the temple; go to the temple (make sure you're worthy!), and take an ancestor's name; study Nephi's experience when he was commanded to slay Laban, for an example of working through something that seems wrong to you, and yet comes from the Lord; ask those closest to you to pray for you. Hopefully others here will have yet more ideas. Vort 1 Quote
