Maya Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Please I do not want to start a debat on USAs politics/economy.. I just want to tell a news from Norways tv this morning. It said that Jackson county probably will announce bankropsy and the county is for sale with 30% sale... Norway is either thinking about buying it or has bought it... I missed some of the news... I find it interesting that it is Jackson county that goes first... There is quite a lot of Church history in that county... Just interested in facts. Anyone know what is going on? Quote

The Community of Christ (formerly RLDS) has it's headquarters there and owns a lot of the church property. If any of our historical sites are for sale, I have no doubt that the Presidency already knows about it. Beyond that, Japan owns a lot of Hawaii, why not Norway owning property here too! Quote
a-train Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 If you are talking about Jackson County, Missouri, then I think there has been some misinformation. I live in Kansas City and while Jackson County has been plagued with scandal, mismanagement, and an assortment of the usual ills, it is not up for sale. The Church has slowly been buying up vast areas of land in the area. Many LDS investors have also participated in the purchase of lands here. A bankruptcy situation across the river for the Wyandotte County government resulted in a plan that merged the county and Kansas City, Kansas governments. Talks of merging Kansas City, Missouri with Jackson County have been in circulation (two years ago), but that seems to be off the table. An assortment of ideas have bounced around, but I have never heard any talk of 'selling the county'. Regardless, I think it is going to be difficult for Norway to police this rowdy place. I been there a few years ago, I have a frend living in KC ..so I seen the people too . Ok it is not that Jacksocounty then ... I did not see it written either... so may have got the name wrong. I remember when $ was 9nkr now it is down to 5! I probably shuld buy me a piece of Missory... Well se if the crowner holds...even eurois going down... good for me as we go to Finland for summer! Waiting for the house prices to fall here too... I sure hope they will in Portugal or Greekland... Quote
