Provo-Orem, Utah Rated Number One

LOS ANGELES, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- We all want to feel secure about where we live, but where are the most secure places in America? According to Farmers Insurance Group's ranking of the Top 25 Most Secure U.S. Places to Live, the most secure location in the U.S. is the Provo-Orem, Utah area.

The rankings, compiled by database experts at http://www.bestplaces.net , took into consideration crime statistics, risk of natural disasters and job loss numbers in 213 U.S. metropolitan areas with populations of 200,000 or more...

Why do they make you mad Strawberry?

BTW....our friends live in Orem and have had 7 bikes stolen...5 cats gutted or skinned alive,..... tresspassing all during the night by the trailer court people behind them..... fruit stolen off their fruit trees, cars vandalized....

their son tacked during a night walk with his friend by a convicted child molester who lived down the street...who they didn't know lived there until after the attack....

cars following slowly along side their daughters as they left for school early mornings...

witnessed drug deals at the 7-11.......and dozens of other things......that is just them...one family....

I think the local government....being the moffia kind of folk, have falsafied their reports to the people taking stats....LOL

It makes me mad because of the condition of the world today and I don't live that far from Orem/Provo.

To me this is similar to printing something like "In Mayberry the crime is so low that people don't even lock their doors." I think that you invite crime with a statement like that. My husband and I were planning another trip to Chicago next month but after us both being there over 9-11 we are rethinking it.

I know that we have been told to just carry on with our lives but just know that an attack is imminent. <_<

I agree, SF. I keep hearing about all the attacks that have been thwarted lately. It seems like there's another one every week! I know people say a lot of bad things about our gov't (I do too), but I have to hand it to them. They're doing a great job at preventing attacks! (Unless it's just a bunch of spin in the media, which I know is a possibility.)

Just the fact that we have our doubts....tells volumes about our country....and it's leadership...

I remember how totally disappointed I was to hear that Kennedy had been having affairs....and that Herbert Hoover had been a racist pig and help abuse the blacks through the FBI...

There are as many stories as their are leaders.... :(

I agree...it is stupid and does invite crime...

I would still go to Chicago. Maybe you need to have a positive experience there... ;) :)

Well, I don't know about you other Utah County-ites out there, but it's good to know that no matter where I go I always know that it's more dangerous than where I live.

Yeah...having attended a high school that was thought of as the "BYU of high schools" and knowing how much crap went on there that they did a great job of keeping on the DL it would be no surprise that the local Big Brother has a few skeletons locked in the closet. It really is the Utah County mentality that if you can keep it hidden and act like everything if juuuuuust perfect then it still is... It's going to be the down fall of this city both governmentally as well as spiritually.

Utah county is a big place. Which town are you in? My preference is Hiland. :)

I think you're referring to J. Edgar Hoover, not Herbert. And it was the sainted Bobby Kennedy who, as attorney general, wiretapped Martin Luther King.

sorry, but that still sounds tame and "safe" compared to other parts of this country...if all you have to worry about is someone skinning your cat...you're living in a pretty safe town....

we had a prostitution ring broken up in our MIDDLE SCHOOL....
