since i'm obviously a chick, i can't say much based on experience other than being the one being dunked. however, i had it (and so did those baptizing me, both for myself and when i went to the temple) really easy, since i'm short (5'2) and the water came up to my chest/bust so all i had to do is lean back a little and i was under. they didn't have to put much effort into it. and also again, seconding what Jibbers said about their asking if you're endowed or not before a session.

OMGosh Bethie! i can't believe it's been over a year for you now! that's so freaking amazing!!! and btw, i finally was baptized too, back on June 20th congratulations my love! i'm so happy for you. i'm planning on going to Salt Lake City for my endowment too in 2.5-3 years...so all you SLC-area .netters better be ready, cause you're coming with me i'll buy Pam dinner even though i haven't been endowed yet, i would imagine the best thing to do is to remember the sacredness of the day and the beautiful blessings you've just received and experienced by keeping it simple if there is any post-endowment celebration. just make sure you have plenty of alone time to contimplate, and most importantly pray :)

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! congratulations!!!!! i totally know where you're coming from, about meeting with the bishop. i was a little uncomfortable at first and didn't know what to expect, but now that i've met with him twice, i totally love him. just remember that he wants to help you and genuinely cares for you, that helped me a lot. and any worthy priesthood holder may baptize you, as long as they are a priest in the Aaronic Priesthood or hold the Melchizedek Priesthood. however, in order to confirm you a member of the church and give you the gift of the holy ghost, that person and any one standing in the circle must be a temple-worthy Melchizedek Priesthood holder. i'm still fairly fresh on the requirements since i was just baptized back in June :) i'm sooo incredibly excited for you! feel free to PM me if you have any questions at all or just wanna talk :)

Az, i feel you completely, and i'm so thrilled things are going better for you. feel free to message me anytime, even if you just really need to vent and you're upset/mad about something. i'm a great listener :) good luck my brother!

Need Advice on Being a Gospel Essentials Teacher
eternalpromise516 replied to a topic in Advice Board
MM, yay! i loved this class and the teacher I had before i was transferred out and called as a Primary teacher :) in sunbeams no less so speaking as a recent convert, maybe this will help a little bit. definitely keep things simple, but follow the spirit and allow things to go deeper or on a slight tangent as appropriate. when i started meeting with the missionaries, and actually stayed for all 3 hours, my first lesson was about the priesthood. so i guess it was pretty good timing on my part, but none the less, the teacher (our WML) made things simple enough but not completely dumbed down...more reachable maybe? don't be afraid to ask any of the investigators to pray, provided that you think they'd be comfortable with it. i have a feeling i was asked to do the closing prayer a couple of times because i was not used to and was a bit uncomfortable praying vocally lol. most of all, love your pupils. get to know them as individuals, say hello to them when you see them before sacrament, talk to them a little before and after class as time permits. this i feel really helped me become more comfortable and really encouraged me in staying the whole 3 hours because i knew one more person i could count on and always took notice when i wasn't there, and was concerned for me. glad to hear it's gone pretty good so far. keep us updated! :) and sorry if i rambled a bit too much in this haha. -
LS, you just totally made my night!! i'll have to post you the picture i found of Pammy, Jbs, Ruth, Honor, and KinUtah. it's a classic!

this has been a very interesting discussion with very good points made by all sides. however, tea is tea, no matter how you try to break it down into it's rainbow of colors (whether it be red, green, black, purple for all i care, maybe even neon pink, whatever) or if it's some other deritive thereof (sp? too lazy to go back and look) or whatever. the Word of Wisdom says we're not to drink tea. doesn't say why, but it does say to not drink it. i'm like the OP, i avoid anything that even sounds like it has tea or the word tea in it, same for coffee, etc. if you have to ask, then why even bother taking the risk? to each his own though, i guess. happy halloween everyone! :)

sorry i didn't get back to post a response about my trip sooner, but i've been crazy busy and sick... anyways, my first trip to the temple was nothing short of.... FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!! there were a total of 64 women's names in addition to the men that one of the YSA reps brought with him, so i was baptized for a number of women from one family, along with one lady who's name when i heard it, i had to bite my lip and not laugh, was Minnie L. Toot i had the ordinance workers who were assigned to the baptistry that night really amazed and happy that i was already in the temple after only being a member for 4 months. i already can't wait to go back :) the youth from my ward are doing an early morning session at 7:30 on saturday, but i'm not going on this one, as i'm going to stay and hang out with my family. so..that's it :) i was only able to take three pictures, two when we got there/were driving to the parking lot, and then one as we were leaving. i'll put those in my gallery :)

thank you all so much for the wonderful wishes! and it's *OFFICIAL* that i'm going tonight as of 8pm EST, lil EP is now an official Temple-Recommend totin Mormon :p LOL i'm literally on cloud nine right now. the bishop said something very touching to me, and this is it in a very tight nutshell, that those who i'm going to be doing the work for and will do future work for, will be one day looking me up in Heaven and letting me know how eternally grateful they are to me for being worthy and loving them and loving Heavenly Father enough that i did that for them....and i almost started bawling right there, but i reined those bad puppies in then as i was walking out of the office, it was like i was floating when i was walking..AH!!! then, the last missionary of the pair that was the ones here for my lessons/baptism, and stood in on my confirmation, said is that a temple recommend i see?!?! when i was standing with another girl and started chatting me up, and he's almost more excited than i am! he wants me to take a load of pictures either before or after we're done and before we leave and post them and get him copies... so...now i'm alternating between being euphorically happy, crying a little, and touching my recommend to make sure it's actually REAL, like that i could be dreaming right now. i'm so excited, and i don't know if i was this happy/excited when i was baptized! thank you guys again SO much for everything :) i will be sure to post some pictures when i return and give a full report :)

Trip will be this Friday evening with a friend and some other members of my stake's YSA to the Columbus, OH temple to do baptisms! i'm so excited...can't wait to be able to go in a couple years for my endowment and be sealed :)

LS, you.are.so.freaking.awesome!!! congrats on making this big and monumental step forwards in your recovery :) i have not been very active on the boards lately, as i've been overwhelmed getting my feet on the ground and outta the water since my baptism, and just trying to manage being a young college student in general! that doesn't mean that i haven't been lurking around a little, so i have been trying to keep up with how you have been doing :) i laud you in choosing to reach out to your family, especially your mother, in receiving help to fight this. it surely takes a lot of guts, and baby you got 'em! keep up the great work. please keep us updated. on another note, i believe that ddd's statement regarding "and the award for most melodramatic goes to..." was slightly misinterpreted, but i could be wrong. i believe that it was not directed at you, LS, but at 3%'s remark on the whole shameful thing. ddd, please feel free to correct me and if it was originally meant for LS. i can sometimes read things in a different way than what they were intended for. congrats again!! i'm so proud of you :) -EP -
