  1. When the papers are signed and and entered into the record of the court. The church in its single adult activities states all divorces must be final.
  2. Not to long I gave a talk on fasting, I am at work and unable to find the reffernce talk I was given from the Bishop. A quick search on LDS.org turned up a talk by Elder Wirthlin in the May 2001 Ensign entitled "The Law of the Fast", in this talk he councils those who are physically able to fast do so. I feel those of us who are unable to fast because of health issuses, can still receive the blessing of the fast by taking that time to dedicate our prayers and meditation to a specific cause. Just as we would if we had been fasting the Lord knows each of us and the intents of our hearts.
  3. That has been my point all along it should be a father son campout. There are plenty of other oppurtunities for scout activities and campouts. KATHYSMIKE
  4. Definetly not strainig at gnats !!!! I have always felt the BSA is a Great program... However commeration of the restoration of the priesthood should have been the focus of this campout, mixing the 2 programs for this event, takes away from the stated purpose of the camp out.
  5. I have been reading this book, it is a wonderful look at being able to blend acadimics with the gosple. Henry Eyering would often answer critics, as to his study of the theroy of evelution, by saying we are only requiered to accept the truth. He told those who wondered why he dozed in church, it's because I know the church is in good hands. I have found this to be a very good read and has given me much to think about.
  6. I have been of the opinion that the media and therefore the majority of americans, treat this woman as a "goddess". It is very sad that an icon would deny Christ when so many look up to her.
  7. My instructor taught for over 25 years, he even taught while serving as Bishop. The instructor in our ward now happens to be his son.
  8. I recieved an e-mail from my ex-wife about the Priesthood Commeneration Campout, in my sons stake, asking if I could take him, this was fine. What I found disturbing was the fact she included this statement: "This is Cole's first Scouting Campout and he is really looking forward to it." As a young man I attended many of these campouts with my own Father, never once did they term it a "scouting event". To me this lessens the whole concept of celebrating the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. Do not get me wrong I think the Scouting program does alot of good, but the the name of the organization is the Boy Scouts of America, not the Boy Scouts of the LDS Church. The scouts is a very effictive tool in furthering the purposes of the Aaronic Priesthood, it should be utilized when it can, but they are two seperate organizations. In the ward I was in there was no Scout Troop, I am a returned missionary, active in the church, the princepals of the priesthood can by taught without the scouting program. I do support my son in his scouting I just belive that the Priesthood should not be overly intertwined with the BSA. Any thoughts ?
  9. When my son was 4 years old, he was talk talking to my wife(his step mother) and pointed out very clearly that she was not his mom, but his Step Down. A year or two later he was into reading signs along the road, as we appo]roached a La-z-Boy store he very proudly exclaimed La zee Boy.
