Antishock, The Church does consider this to be "the" hill. There are however some Latter-day Saints that simply have not come to terms with the position of the apostles who have spoken about this matter. They seem to feel the apostles just have their opinion and until God comes down and shouts it from a cloud they will not believe. It's a matter of faith. And, faith is a convenient attribute in which all doubt is wiped away as if in one giant stroke. Paul O

Jenda Sexuality is a complex emotion; wouldn’t you agree? I honestly believe that the vast majority of practicing homosexuals are doing so because that is their natural disposition and is directly linked to genetics. Also, I think the testimonials from gay people are worth more than the opinions of straight people who are studying them from a viewpoint they can hardly understand. I don’t know all the answers. I just know that gay men like to have sexual relations with gay men. Why is that? Straight people are predisposed to think that any normal healthy man would prefer to have sex with a beautiful woman and be repulsed by the idea of sucking a man’s $&^#$. Paul O

Jenda, Thanks for sharing your family situation and experience. I have read that reports show identical twins have a high risk of one of them being gay. It’s a strange phenomena to say the least. I wonder what the universal ratio is between woman who “choose” to be Lesbian as apposed to woman who choose to be Lesbian because they are Lesbian without ever having been sexually abused? I’ll bet one could really get some hot answers in a gay parade march! Perhaps some online gay message boards provide answers. How about popping in on one of those and asking around? Paul O

Jenda, May I submit to you that the reason your two Lesbian friends chose to be Lesbians is because they are Lesbians. You are what you eat and you eat what you are. The boy who was a teenager was in a sensitive time in his life when sexuality is beginning to develop-- faster for some boys and slower for others. Rape, incest, and other forms of abuse can indeed play havoc on a young boys sexual desires and confuse their orientation. Girls that are raped often never recover and are scared for life, hence they too have screwed up orientation and confusion, consequently their future husband shares in the aftermath-- guilt. Paul O

I will agree that God doesn’t make one act homosexual but I disagree that God doesn’t have the tenacity to include this kind of trial into his overall program of mortality. God is not mean but he is TOUGH! Look around you and see how hard things are in this world and the things that God allows. He allows mankind to have physical deformity and mental deformity. Lindy,I’m saying that woman are more naturally inclined to be attracted to each rather then men are. Woman are woman. They are close and affectionate, huggy, kissy-- and you know what I mean. However, I recognize that Lesbians are really just as trapped as gay men. They didn’t choose to be that way from a sexual choice here on earth. The question is whether they choose to give into to their true sexual desire which is contrary to God's commandments. That is the test. Paul O

AFDaw,Pretty much boys are somewhat homosexual in nature until they start to like girls. It’s part of childhood. Some boys never develop naturally and continue to develop full homosexual desires. Some boys develop so they can go either way. Sexuality is a complex network of emotion, desire, and hunger which can go awry the same as any other mental or physical deformity. God gave each and every person special trials in life. It should not surprise you to learn that human nature is not perfect and boys can develop sexual attraction towards each other just as strong as heterosexuals can. Jenda, Yes, woman are different then men. I don’t know how to say it but here is the gist: woman can go back and forth-- many are inclined to go either way. Woman are just different. Woman naturally like each other as woman. Now, men are different and they can be pigs. I don’t think men get it on with each other just for a kick. I think gay men are simply trapped into their sexual nature which causes them to get it on. Oh, this is kind of hard to explain. I hope you understand what I’m trying to express. I don't think gay men have sex together just for the hell of it. Why would a man want to suck on another man's $@^@(* if he really didn't have a sexual drive to do that? I think that the fact gay men do that to each other speaks volumes about what they are up against. Gadzooks, another gay thread and thank God I don't have to read a hundred posts first. Well, I’ve thought about this particular subject very carefully and have determined that people are naturally gay through no fault of their own. I believe God has given a few of his children this particular problem on purpose. It is not a mistake that God has made but rather a trial or a test that was specially given to those persons to overcome and for them to see if they would walk the highroad and not give in to their natural desires which are forbidden. That’s how I see it. My hat is off to any LDS gays that resist this lifestyle and walk the high road which the Lord has commanded. It surely must be one of the hardest thing any human being could go through and I imagine that those people who are chosen to experience it are very interesting people. For those who have not decided to keep the commandments but act on their improper sexual drive-- there is still time to make things right. You have your entire life to prove yourself. But, when you die you will be very sad that you failed your test. Paul O

Cal,Do you honestly expect a Church member to act and know everything as if they could walk on water? Cut them some slack. Cut me some slack. People believe many things incorrectly and have their opinions but these things are not manifested by the Holy Spirit in scripture or in Conference. The important thing is that we are grounded in the principles and ordinances of the gospel. The time of the coming of Christ has always been a sticky subject and Christ made that perfectly clear on several occasions. So, don’t find fault with saints who error in their thinking that Christ was going to come before... Paul O

Guys, Yes, we have a choice. We can choose to have faith in any given system of religion. We can study these systems and make it a matter of prayer. Hopefully through the help of an all kind and wise Deity (assuming he really does exist)-- we will learn the truth. I feel that I have learned the truth. Yes, FEEL! And, you know that feelings are really the best attribute we humans possess. Feelings are good. Feelings of the Spirit are good. :) Feelings of goodwill towards others are good. I worked through those difficulties by having some deep conversations with some highly intelligent persons on the Internet that explored possible ways in which the ships were constructed and conveyed upon the water. My fears were done away upon reaching a better understanding on how that voyage was accomplished. Bat, Internet Mormons that feel we need to vote on whether a member of the First Presidency has the Spirit when giving a carefully selected message are out of the way; this is not orthodox Mormonism. The excuse of calling for a vote in this case is a slam against the collaborated effort of the General Authorities and everything the Church stands for. I feel some LDS folks would be better off if they remained silent in their opinions against the General Authorities rather than confuse the rest of us with their inability to recognize the influence of the Spirit working through the apostles of Jesus Christ. In reference to the Cumorah of the Book of Mormon being in New York State, President Romney stood before the whole Church and bore witness as an apostle of the Lamb and said: "My beloved brothers and sisters, I invite you to join in a prayer that while I speak you and I may both enjoy the Spirit. I will give you a lesson today that the Lord has taken great pains to bring to us…Now my beloved brethren and sisters everywhere, both members of the Church and nonmembers, I bear you my personal witness that I know that the things I have presented to you today are true—both those pertaining to past events and those pertaining to events yet to come" The Lord has spoken through his apostles. Either we believe them or we do not. The choice is ours. I believe that President Romney spoke the truth and I believe he knew what he was talking about. The voices of the apostles on this matter are unified. Unbelieving members of the Church are obligated to seek confirmation from the Spirit that their testimony in this regard is verily true. My advice is that members of the Church dump the scholars who seek after another Cumorah and cultivate their faith. Paul O
