So what is wrong with the Nicene Creed?

Obama and Transparency: No More Need for Limbaugh
bytor2112 replied to Elphaba's topic in Current Events
Taxes have a sour affect on economic growth. If a business is not earning a profit or it's profits have been cut, logic follows that it will raise the cost of it's goods and services and pass them on to the consumer. What else might they do??? Well, a small business owner like myself, might decide to make budget cuts like, not using a cleaning service to clean my office or a yard service to maintain my office landscaping or my home landscaping, I might even stop using a pool service to maintain my pool. Maybe I will stop eating out for lunch and maybe I will make my car last another year or two rather than buying a new car. The list could go on and on, hopefully you see the point. It affects everybody.......... More disposable income means that I can keep my cleaning ladies, my yard people, my pool service and buy a new car or two and eat out for lunch if I choose. Who benefits????? Everyone. -
Obama and Transparency: No More Need for Limbaugh

Do you own a business? I do...two in fact. And your simply dead wrong. Where do you think the money comes from that the government spends?????? Taxes. What faster way to get money back in to the economy than to allow people to keep more of there hard earned money? Would you rather have a good job and lower taxes so that you could have a decent standard of living or a government handout and a barely sustainable lifestyle? Businesses come and go all of the time, the idea is to create an environment where businesses can grow and higher more people. Corporate tax rates are ridiculously high. Cut the rates and businesses can expand and hire more people. The concept of owning a business is to make a profit. If, as a business owner I can produce more goods and services by employing more people to grow my business, imagine how many more people a business could higher if they weren't robbed by the federal government. Worried about bad ole big business not expanding the job market and keeping the profits? Tie the tax cuts to hiring and remember public traded companies are accountable to there share holders, people like you and I. Remember the government doesn't make money, they print it, they spend it and they take it away. I am not debating the need for government safety nets, but the stimulus plan is not a stimulus plan. Do you follow business? Have you seen the markets reaction to the bill? Where is your logic? -

Sounds kind of fun to me.:) Not so much the $50 bucks though. Personally, unless you are really seeking spiritual enlightenment, then it's probably harmless....just entertainment.

Obama and Transparency: No More Need for Limbaugh

If stimulus was needed to jump start the economy the best way would have been through major tax cuts. The US has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world and cutting this rate would encourage economic growth. Allowing people to keep more of there income is much preferable than printing more money and putting our country so much deeper in debt that our great grand kids will still be trying to dig out. People who bought more house than they could afford......sad, but the government shouldn't bail them out. Bad decisions equal bad consequences. That being said, if we are going to spend two trillion dollars....and I am so against it....but if we are, then I would much rather see mortgages get retired than banks being propped up and pork being funneled out all over the country. But that would make to much sense and help to many people and the government, controlled by Democrats or Republicans rarely does anything that makes sense. -

Awfully strong words there jadams????? Limbaugh's not a liar, he just sees things through conservative lenses. Your comments suggest that everyone that listens to him is stupid and gullible. Where do YOU look things up after YOU have listened to Limbaugh's alleged lies?????? Or are you just spewing venom, because you disagree with his politics? Disagreeing with someone politically doesn't mean they are lying.........it just means that you are on the other side of the political spectrum. Political truth depends on your viewing angle......and for what ever it's worth, Limbaugh is wildly successful because he is entertaining. -

I never said that I listen to Limbaugh or Hannity..... I have , but it's rare, Limbaugh is very entertaining,if I listen to talk radio at all,it is usually Dennis Miller or sometimes Michael Medved. I am not a political junky and try to avoid the talking heads like the plague. Once in a while I get drawn in.......CSPAN and I used to watch Russert, for a chuckle I sometimes watch O'Reilly. I listen to BBC and read the Wall Street Journal .....but thanks for the suggestions.

"Those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account — to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government." -President Obama So far....not so much:mad:

How many Christians have read the Bible? How many are "saved" because someone led them to Christ? Do they "know" the Jesus of the bible, if they have never really read the Bible? What about the illiterate or the blind, deaf and dumb that may never read the Bible, yet they believe that Jesus Christ is the savior of mankind? How is the truth sealed in there minds if they do not know the truth as revealed in his word? I won't comment on your assessment that the Holy Spirit that millions of Saints have experienced is something other than Holy, but I would suggest that you tread lightly, rather than profaning what we consider sacred. There are to my knowledge millions and millions of people who consider themselves "saved" and Christian that are not intimately familiar with the Bible. Yet, they believe that they have received Christ as there personal Savior, are they not Christian by your standards? And, I am sure you will say that its the Bible/God who sets those standards. I guess my question is..... as a Christian Erik, do you propose that one take a written or oral exam in order to prove there understanding of Christ before you consider them a Christian? Your comments beginning with the bold text.........are rude and condescending. Do you actually read what you write? How nice to suggest that some of LDS might get lucky and be saved?????? Your comments regarding Joseph Smith are bordering on bashing, really you should refrain from criticizing someone which you obviously know that we revere.

SS, I have had similar feelings in the past. Being surrounded by seemingly perfect people was difficult for me knowing the dark roads I had traveled much of my life. As my understanding of the atonement and forgiveness has grown, I don't see these people as better than me....just at different stages of spiritual growth. Most of the people I thought were perfect, I am now certain that they are not and they have issues just like me and need the atonement every bit as much as I do. I have tried to stop looking back at my life and feeling regret, it's not easy sometimes. The really awesome thing that keeps me feeling warm inside is this.........though I can never have the same past as many stellar church members like Elder Eyring or President Monson, I can have the same exact future, because of the atonement. Because of the atonement, The Lord doesn't see my past anymore and I can be welcomed in to his presence just like those who are farther along the spiritual path. A friend once told me that it is direction and not velocity that counts.

Contradictions between The BoM and the Bible?

I suggest you actually read the posts, and you will see that I wasn't demeaning anyone.......

Truth and God go hand in hand and ignorance is man's attempt to explain everything by his own flawed reasoning and intellect.

Me too. Maybe we have given that country the opportunity to be free of tyranny.......though we may disagree on the methods used, I think we can at least hope for the same outcome. Side note: I don't hear the shrill cry of "out of Iraq now"????? And for the record, when and if things are ramped in Afghanistan I will value the lives of Afghani children just as much....won't you?
