Better wear your Rosary Ceeboo.....I've been praying about you:lol:

Elph.....that's an odd story isn't it? The dad probably should have tried a different approach with the Principal. It seems unlikely that a Principle would object to this request by a parent.....I guess it is possible. I wonder why the parent didn't go to the Superintendent, rather than make a scene? Anyways, why were the other kids beating up his son? Because they were for homosexual education? Is the article suggesting that their is a link between the the parents protest and the beating? Parents must be raising some kind of kids if they are dragging other kids places and beating them up. Thankfully, those thoughts or feelings never existed in my kids. As far as teachers go, bullying should be strictly prohibited......they should exercise some common sense.

Kids are always the victims....very sad. Parents should be teaching their kids to treat every one with kindness. I don't have a problem with schools reinforcing the golden rule or even mentioning the issue to age appropriate kids in the context of showing respect to others who may seem different. I was taught growing up that, "if you didn't have anything nice to say, don't say it." Some of the responsibility certainly belongs to the parents who are in these relationships....there life style choice's can be a source of pain to the kids as they grow up and regardless of teaching kids to be kind, there will always be somebody that will be cruel to the innocent. It's just a by product of a lifestyle that is outside the norm.....doesn't make it right.

What is a truly repentant attitude?
bytor2112 replied to OneEternalSonata's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
So true. Confession could mean to Heavenly Father....or the Bishop if necessary. -
First of all....only you know if you are worthy to enter the Temple. I don't think the recommend questions ask how you vote....if it did I am not sure any of would be temple worthy. Perhaps understanding why you want to vote no would get you some better answers.

The church does not endorse a political party or candidate but is not silent on moral issues. There are General Authorities that are members of both political parties. Free agency is a gospel principal and a war was fought in heaven over it. We are all free to choose good or evil....but not without consequences. I have to be honest here, Brenton, you have gotten under my skin a couple of times and I have responded a bit sharply and for that I apologize. Perhaps you could in future posts remember that your sarcasm and pointed comments and dismissal of religious persons beliefs tend to make people of religious faith bristle. Again I am sorry for being sharp or even insulting in my comments as well.:)

I know Elphaba is a witch....but a mind reader too??? I get it...you don't like Bush. He has very low approval ratings......not as low as the Democratic controlled Congress, but low. McClellan is an unemployed turncoat looking to make a buck and Abdullah al-Muhajir (Jose Padilla) was convicted of conspiring to kill people in overseas jihad. Your comments sound like talking points for Air America or Bill Mahr. Sorry I disagree with you. I am ready for Bush to go, but I don't lay the blame for America' problems soley at his feet...it's not deserved and just because you think it ....doesn't make it so.As I stated I am not a Bush fan.....I wasn't a Clinton fan either, but he wasn't the anti-Christ either and I would defend cliched attacks that are flung his way as well. As for the "intellectually dishonest" comment.....I will try to remember my side of the line. Before we continue to get into a wee-weeing competition....let's just agree to disagree and move on. Oh and am I right that Elphaba is a witch.....my wife is reading some book about witches and I scanned it a bit and found a character named Elphaba....thought I should mention that so you won't think I am hurling insults.

Otterpop......that is such a nice compliment...Thank you....I really do try, and may I say that your posts indicate to me that you are a wonderfully sincere and caring person and it is always a pleasure to read your posts...though I may occaisionally disagree.:) I am sure you are right.....I guess what I am saying is ....all we can do is offer our love and support and council if it is desired. Arguing over whether it is right or wrong is not going to change the fact that it exists. Again, thanks for the nice comment...it is really very humbling and I am not sure all that deserved.:)

Politically neutral....not morally neutral.

I guess the difference is that a person can hide being homosexual....a black person cannot hide being black. As for the dresses.....I don't know, kilts are pretty manly..

The whole homosexual issue is irrelevant. One day we will all stand before the judgemnent bar of Christ and we will then know if it was genetic or choice or both. I personally think it is both...... Oh.....I mean everyone but Brenton, Elphaba and Rastler....they will just be worm food since there isn't a God. Just kidding...... Our duty is to share our beliefs in love and kindness.....whether or not they accept it is there business. I don't pretend to understand homosexuality because I don't have those desires. I had a friend that I worked with years ago that was "gay". I didn't know it till he told me. I commented on some very attractive young ladies one night and he said yes, very pretty. I commented on some more and he said, You know I am gay, right?? Huh? Yes, I am gay he said. We talked a lot about it and he said that he been "different since he was a child, he had tried to like girls...but couldn't...I believe him. Then there was a guy I went to school with.....his brother Mike, looked and acted like a woman. Very slender boned, high voice...very feminin, his sister's name was Pat.....very masculine, looked and dressed like a guy and acted like a guy. Both were openly gay. Genetic....I think so. I can't imagine the confusion that they must feel. Then the whole bi-sexual thing........sexual addiction? Maybe. Seems very common with girls.......maybe guys too....what do I know. President Kimball said, "that the Lord doesn't make any fine distinctions between sexual immorality." Fornication, homosexuality, adultry...it's all an abomination in the Lord's eyes. But if you don't believe in such superstitions then........have a swell time.

Brenton....perhaps you should say that religious institutions are worried........rather than singling out the LDS church...sounds a bit insulting to the LDS and this is after all an LDS forum.

one God
bytor2112 replied to shadowhunter's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
You can find quotes from Teachings of Joseph Smith........but he makes it clear that God was a man like us and dwelt on an Earth....like Jesus Christ. I am with you though...he wasn't a man like me...like Christ, yes. -
Carter.....humble????? Honest????? BAhahahahahahahah

Elphaba.....first of all, you have quoted a bunch of guys that want to sell books and no one wants to buy a book that is favorable to a sitting president....IMO. Secondly, I am not defending the Bush presidency........I voted for him twice, because Gore was nuts and Kerry was way to liberal....again IMO. I was merely pointing out the misinterpretation of the comments from his speeches. I am going to hold my nose and vote for * and hope for the best. I wish we could completely start over....new congress....throw the bums out and new candidates from both sides. I am disgusted with politics, politicians and the state of our country. I manage millions of dollars...retirement plans and individual savings...for a living and I have just watched 25% of my clients assets sucked down the drain the past two weeks because of ineptitude from elected officials and there is blame o'plenty to go around .......It's kind of like Nero fiddling while Rome burned. I haven't slept in a week and feeli like I need a Xanax drip..... Edit: Site rule #7 Violation: Do not post or upload any names of political candidates or posts that insinuate a particular candidate. Too bad it can't be religious.....Paul comes to mind

How about Jean Lafitte....he was a pirate. He also helped to defeat the Brittish at the Battle of New Orleans.

We have characterized nations as rogue or as state sponsers of terrorism long before Bush and we were gearing up for a military response to 911. Previous administrations had been soft spoken and done nothing with regard to the growing terrorist threat. A little tough talk aimed at nations that encourage terroristic aggressions is way over due.A policy of doing nothing will yield results such as 911 and the attack on the Cole. Th threat of terrorism is real and should be dealt with as aggressively as possible and the nations labeled by past and present administrations should be warned of impending consequences if corrective actions aren't taken. The argument over patriotic or unpatriotic is distasteful to me and is a lot of hype and political posturing on both sides of the aisle. Burning the President of the United States in effigy and some of the ridiculous slanders that are presented by so-called anti-war groups are nothing more than an attempt to divide our country. Take a hard look at some of protest groups and see who they really are and what they really represent.....

When your wife goes "clubbing" with the girls and tells you she isn't in love with you anymore........ that is not good. If I were in your shoes and reading between the lines, I would be thinking that she is enjoying the attention she is surely getting from other men at these "clubs". She might be longing for the single life and may ultimately act on it. Marriage is a partnership.......you need to find a way to togetherness and get her to stop the clubing before something very damaging occurs. Take a cruise together, do something out of the norm.....start a hobby that you can do together. Start working out and get a tan.......take her to Salsa lessons. She is looking for excitement....but night clubs aren't the solution...if she is bored with the "married" version of Hordak, the clubs with or without you will just reminder her of that. My wife went through this with me.......the solution for me was Heavenly Father and activity in church. My heart was softened and I stopped wanting the world and the attentions of other women and full recognized the blessings of my beautiful family. We are now sealed and happier and more content than ever before. The gospel really is the cure all........

Elphaba, I stand corrected, in the future I will direct my comments appropriately and as for your correction, it still wasn't a comment aimed at you or any US citizen, it was directed to other nations. The context of the speech, that I quoted, is directed at rogue nations that aid and comfort terrorists. It was gived 12 days after a brutal attack. The comments were not directed at you.......and that is my point. The visceral hatred some feel toward Bush causes them to believe things that are not true and your characterization of his comments made in a speech.....are not factual. Bush wasn't defining you, he was issuing a warning to state sponsers of terrorism. I am not saying you are any of these,..... but,you can dislike Bush or hate him if you need to, be a flaming liberal or just a staunch anti-war person regardless of the cause and still be honest. The comments hurled at Bush and the twisting of his comments are intellectually dishonest. One can argue there position effectively, without resorting to cliched commentary and anti-Bush talking points.

What is a truly repentant attitude?
bytor2112 replied to OneEternalSonata's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
During the process of setting my life in order, My Stake President told me that to be truly repentant.......we had to become the type of person that would never had committed those sins to begin with. That if we could travel back in time and be faced with those decisions, we would never choose the sin. A "mighty" change of heart is what is required...and that takes time. A resolve to never recommit the sin and a determination to always do what the Lord requires. President Kimball said that we are not truly repentatnt unless we fulfill our duties. Attend all three hours, pray and fast, tithe and do our home teaching. Repentance is indeed developing a Christ like attitude in all things. Placing one s faith in the atonemnt is essential to change....allowing it to work a miracle and it will......it has in mine. -
Not scared......just realistic. It's not him I fear, It's his ideology.
