My House burned... lost everything whats next
prospectmom replied to prospectmom's topic in General Discussion
Well it is two weeks and 5 days since our house burned. We still are not in our new home ( new to us)As much as we would like things do not always move swiftly. We should be in by Sunday. I was able to go to church on Sunday and it was wonderful. I only stayed for sacrement as I had to get more supplies up to the workers. My leg started hurting at the knee and swelled from my groin to my ankle so ended up to the Dr then to the hospital. They thought I had a blood clot but luckily not. I have a nerve/ arthritis thing going on and my stress and over doing it came out on my leg so today I am subbing in V-tel with my leg up on a pillow. I will update more soon. Terry -

Herbal Medicine and Alternative Therapies
prospectmom replied to ZenMormon's topic in Health and Exercise
I think it is a balancing act to blend the herbal and the standard medical practices. They should work hand in hand complimenting each other. I have a good Dr which respects and supports my need to not be on many medicines. SHe supports me in my quest to lower my blood pressure, loose weight and manage my pain in the least invasive most natural way possible. I appreciate both sides of the issue .- 62 replies

oopsie cats claw this is what I found about it Cat's Claw is a tropical vine that grows in rainforest and jungle areas in South America and Asia. Some cultures refer to the plant as the "Sacred Herb of the Rain Forest". This vine gets its name from the small thorns at the base of the leaves, which looks like a cat's claw. These enable the vine to attach itself around trees climbing to a heights up to 100 feet. The plant is considered a valuable medicinal resource and is protected in Peru. Although scientific research has just recently begun to explore its benefits, many cultures native to the South American rain forest areas have used this herb for hundreds of years. Current studies show it may have positive effects on, and can boost the body's immune system. With recent fear of HIV, studies have started to move quickly. The active substances are alkaloids, tannins and several other phytochemicals. Some of the alkaloids have been proven to boost the immune system. The major alkaloid rhynchophylline has anti-hypertensive effects and may reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack by lowering blood pressure, increasing circulation, reducing heart rate and controlling cholesterol. Other constituents contribute anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anticancer properties. Many treatments combine the herb with different plants and natural products to increase the absorption and bioavailability. It has long been used as a homeopathic treatment for intestinal ailments. Uses include: Crohn's disease, gastric ulcers and tumors, parasites, colitis, gastritis, diverticulitis and leaky bowel syndrome. By stimulating the immune system, it can also improve response to viral and respiratory infections. European clinical studies have used the extract from the bark in combination with AZT in the treatment of AIDS. It is also used in the treatment and prevention of arthritis and rheumatism, as well as diabetes, PMS, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, and prostate conditions. Part Used: Inner bark and root. Capsules, tea and extract. Common Use: Extracts are used in treatments for a variety of conditions, mostly gastrointestinal. Immuno-stimulant properties help the body fight off infections and protect against degenerative diseases.

I do not think we have to run to the bishop for every thing. I am not as opinionated about this one. The way I see it you realized the path your going on and stopped. That is what repentence is all about. Remember Jesus said " Go and sin no more " I think if the issue ever comes up again you would be wise to go to the Bishop but I think you are on the right track on your own as long as you continue to sin no more in this way.

Isn't location an important part of prepardeness?
prospectmom replied to ultprep's topic in Preparedness
LM there already is in place in Oregon a sort of monitering to purchace weapons. You have to pass a short background check with the state police. You have to wait a set amount of time and the gun you purchaced is on record as being bought by you. This is no the case for swaps and private sales. Farmer yes you are partaially correct. My son is a first time hunter and could fill his dad's tag if he is with him. that was lastr year now this year he is getting his own tag. -

All my children took hunter safety and your kids can take it anytime. In Oregon they have to be 12 to be a firsttime hunter. I think the laws are different for bird ( pheasant/duck hunting). My children have all been around guns, are respectful, know the rules and can hunt for food or defend themselves if ever necessary. Sounds like your family is awesome... you are very lucky . -

Here is some info from my Pain Newsletter Help Correct Misinformation About Hospice and Palliative Medicine in Health Care Reform Bill The American Pain Foundation and the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) request your help in correcting misinformation about hospice and palliative medicine in the health care reform bill. Your voice is urgently needed to weigh in on the health care reform debate. Provisions AAHPM worked hard to have included in health care reform legislation are now being attacked, and some members of Congress have been hearing from constituents who've been misinformed. We need you to correct the record! America's Affordable Health Choices Act (H.R. 3200) contains a provision that would provide coverage under Medicare for people to talk to their doctor about their wishes and care preferences at the end of life. This has prompted some groups to falsely claim that care planning consultations include "euthanasia," that physicians would be required to "recommend a method for death" and that such consultations would be "mandatory every five years." These claims are blatantly false. The provision included in H.R. 3200 simply allows Medicare to pay for a conversation between a patient and their doctor if the patient wishes to speak about their preferences and values. This benefit would be purely voluntary, and patients do not need to have this consultation with their doctor if they do not wish to do so. The new Medicare benefit would allow doctors to be compensated for these conversations every five years, and more frequently if a patient has a life-limiting illness or health status changes. Staff for U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), who sponsored the original legislation on advance directives, have been reaching out to other Congressional offices in an effort to clarify mischaracterizations of the health care reform legislation. Now they are asking to hear from you. They need quotes from patient advocates and health care providers so they can help correct the record and promote the benefits of advance care planning among the members of Congress. If you wish to weigh in on this legislation, please forward a quote - no more than a few sentences - to Christa Shively in Sen. Blumenauer's office stating why these provisions in the health care reform bill are important. These should be positive statements about improving patient care and helping families through difficult times. They need your feedback as soon as possible. You may also want to follow up with your own representatives in Congress - let them know that you support this and other hospice and palliative care provisions in the health care reform bills. Please contact AAHPM Advocacy with any questions. PLEASE NOTE: Members of Congress will recess and return to their home states for an August work period. AAHPM urges you to make an appointment with your representatives for this time, to discuss the benefits of hospice and palliative care provisions now included in the health care reform bills. Your voice is crucial to ensuring all of these provisions remain in the final version of reform legislation.

anatess.... I am not naive and your comments are totally right.... I wish there was an answer... Farmer.... I do not feel entitled to healthcare but feel the need and desire for affordable insurance . We paid insurance for 7 years and hardly a visit then my husband was laid off, the cobra was so unaffordable it was rediculous. Then my daughter got sick and we ended up in the ER 3 times in the space of 2 months . We also went to a community Health Care Center where we paid a sliding scale.. that was nice but we now have over 3 thousand dollars in medical bills. so I see a problem with the insurance industry as it stands.

Actually the Cash cor Clunkers program is still going on and congress/senate has added additional 2 billion dollars to the program. From what I read the whole idea is to help those who do not hava affordable insurance be able to afford it...... so all can have healthcare.... ideally what is the problem with that????? I know it will be messed up by congress/senate/ lobbyists etc but the idsa is good.

Well, Mrs. Obama, let's see what your husband, the King said. Was sarcasm really needed I am just stating the facts and Margin said it clearly also... The transplant program has its rules set up the President has no control in that. You seem to be very angery and you seem to want to lash out I am sorry you feel that way....... YOu should be angery with the paid lobbyists and the money behind them..... the congress and senate who want their share of any pie offered no matter the consequences ....

For me I know God exists... not by being taught , scriptures, church it is a knowing beyond words, I have felt this way for as long as I can remember and because of that feeling I have no doubts about it. I can not prove it nor do I feel the need to it is good enough for me to know........ Everything I learn, read and am taught only support my knowing.....
-
thank you... and I will make my intentions more clear in the future............ I see what your saying but I still believe that if you have faith, believe you will automatacally have good works to follow...... not to prove to anyone but to be a testiment to your faith . Do I make sense??? My grandma was christian and from a very early age taught me the bible.... She showed her faith by her actions not to prove to anyone but it was who she was........... Believing and having faith changes you so you automatacally have works anyway That is how I look at it and did even before I became a Mormon. Talk to you soon I enjoy the time you take with me.
-
PALe don't you know Congress and the Senate have the best healthcare money can buy. Why would they want to change?????
-
My neighbors aren't perfect but it seems we hav a respect that living in a rural area brings... very nice You stated the Bible to be without error as it is now...... I asked how you deal with the contradictions of two scriptures... 1. the faith without works is dead one James 2:14 and Faith alone saves you John 5:24 and Romans 10: 9,10. Your answer was too expound on how different faiths looked at some of the scriptures etc....... How is the bible as it is now perfect if there are contradictions and How do you deal with these examples of such..... I have what I believe which is. IF you have faith and believe that is enough is a true statement if you consider you would change believing in Christ and you would automatically have good works because of your faith. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Congress is much better tuned into the need of those who want to make maximal bucks off this health care revision. Yes Moksha the special interests, etc who pay the lobbyists to court the congress
