  1. You are to be commended. The Lord has issued many promises to those who keep the Sabbath day holy, yet too many people have little to no faith that the Lord will actually deliver on those promises. The opportunity to make more money often overshadows the greater blessings that come from obedience. I have turned down several good paying jobs because I would be required to work all or most Sundays. I've taken lesser-paying jobs because it's what the Lord wants me to do, and I've been blessed for it.
  2. I'm not sure the Church is interested in publishing dos and don'ts for civil ceremonies, as the whole purpose of the Church and the Lord's plan is for all to be married for eternity. Any restrictions are usually at the discretion of the Bishop performing the ceremony. There are no cookie cutter answers.
  3. You can find the DVD at Deseret Book. It was a great Christmas present.
  4. The most important thing to remember is that nobody will do anything they truly don't want to do. You want your family to be together again, but you cannot want it for her. The only person you can control is you. Focus on becoming a better person and father to your daughter. You will be blessed for your good works and will receive your reward. Your wife, too, will receive her reward. When someone says "Give me space," it's almost the worst thing they could say. Couples who are struggling need to be with each other more than ever, not given space where God knows what could happen. "Give me space" says to me that she is selfish and does not care about your feelings. You can't control her feelings. Just be the best person and father you can be.
  5. I agree Ben. It's easy for other countries to hate the US, seeing how we're the biggest and best country in the world. It won't be long before multiple countries start ganging up on us. We need allies, if for no other reason than to protect our backsides.
  6. Kurt Warner is probably the least arrogant person in football. Eagles will roll up the Cards and face the Terrible Towel in the Super Bowl.
  7. Thoughts with you and your dad.
  8. It is only a requirement to obtain the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom. A seal cannot be broken, hence why it's called seal.
  9. I don't believe this is true. President Hinckley lived in a simple apartment.
  10. Further proof that the world does not understant our doctrine or our books of scripture. Mormon Doctrine is not the "heart" of our faith.
  11. Music from Hymns or Children's Songbook is always appropriate.
  12. Tithing isn't a debt that you owe. It's a sign of faith and obedience. There is no such thing as making up tithing. You're either a full tithe payer or you are not. Just like you can't undo past sins, you can't undo not paying tithing. Just repent and start now.
  13. From The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-- One of the blessings of membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the privilege of paying tithing. This privilege is a double blessing. By paying tithing, Church members show their gratitude to God for their blessings and their resolve to trust in the Lord rather than in material things. They also help further the work of the Lord in the earth, blessing others of God’s children with the opportunity to learn of Him and to grow in the gospel. Through the prophet Malachi, the Lord declared: "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it" (Malachi 3:10). Church members give their tithing donations to local leaders. These local leaders transmit tithing funds directly to the headquarters of the Church, where a council determines specific ways to use the sacred funds. This council is comprised of the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and the Presiding Bishopric. Acting according to revelation, they make decisions as they are directed by the Lord. (See D&C 120:1.) Tithing funds are always used for the Lord's purposes—to build and maintain temples and meetinghouses, to sustain missionary work, to educate Church members, and to carry on the work of the Lord throughout the world.
