  1. Hey there! welcome to this!
  2. You can find better antioxidants and diuretics in other stuff. Just one sip is enough my friend. You know how much it took me to finally say "ah, i've had that much, might as well ahve more"? one sip. and I became an alcoholic. I know, I'm an extreme example. But don't take the chance
  3. I can't wait to meet him. :)
  4. Oh! So basically, temples are not where God lives. It's where WE go on earth (his footstool) to get closer to his home, in heaven. Awesome. Thank you so much! That protester needs better material next time. haha
  5. Thanks for reminding me. I leave in December for the MTC. I should get on this! haha.
  6. I went to priesthood session at the conference center and although I have pretty much answered my own question; I'd like to see what others have to say. A protester outside was holding a sign with Acts 7:48 ("Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,") written upon it. If one reads on in acts it says that heaven is his home and the earth is his footstool. So then I thought "well then why do we build temples if he doesn't want temples?" ( 44Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen. 45Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David; 46Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. 47But Solomon built him an house. ) I then thought, oh yeah -- temple work, duh. But, that still makes me wonder why do we say "house of the lord"? is it bible doctrine that we call it that? or is it just something we say?
  7. I paid. Who can't use more blessings, right? Haha
  8. Thanks! I figured it out, haha. I was inactive when I bought it so I decided to pay the tithing. So that's that. I can't complain, still have plenty of money haha. And thanks for the comments.
  9. Hey, I'm a little confused. My bishop said "you don't have to pay in this circumstance so it's up to you." but my father said I should pay $600 in tithing -- here's the story. I bought my car a year ago for 9,000 just sold it not 20 minutes ago and got 6,000 for it. So I lost 3000 Ugh. but, after paying off my debt I'll have 4,000. Do I pay tithing on this, or don't I? Did I gain or didn't I? Also, here's a picture I shot of the Draper temple last week -- just for kicks.

    My friend...

Just because they say it's legal, doesn't mean being straight is illegal. the church won't budge.
  11. 1966 - The first stake in Connecticut is organized at Hartford. BOOYEAH! that's my mission area, baby.
  12. haha. I doubt that. that'd be largely embarrassing for both me, and my mom.
  13. Read everything you can by Truman G. Madsen.
  14. Very funny. I'll say it proudly. I voted for Barack Obama. And Now I'll also say this proudly. He is not the success he promised. I wish we had a better candidate to vote for other than McCain. If I were to do it again though, I'd still vote for barack because as a 19 year old McCain scared me. I am not really looking forward to a draft. But, on the road we're going -- who knows. Maybe I'll have to leave my mission area early
  15. I LOVE CARS. I'm going to miss my M3 so much when I leave. Right now I have a Hellrot (bright red) 1998 E36 M3. Here's a large picture It's not a muscle car, but boy I love it. My friend, Mickey, has a rebuilt 1966 Mustang and it's GORGEOUS. along with that his dad has a 1951 Ford F100. She sits on air bags and boy is that a fun car to be in.
  16. I got another one, President Monson rocks! He signed it again for me. I can see him now thinking "I swear I signed this one already..." and his secretary saying "his mother wrote on it on accident" and him ending with a laugh haha. at least that's how I think it went down. either way, I'm happy, my mom apologized and I got my call signed! Woo!
  17. All I will say is: Mormon Doctrine Page 319 (Godhead) 3 Nephi 28:10
  18. If you believe in the holy trinity... If you mean "A" God. Then yes, but the eternal father? I beg to differ.
  19. ha! I can fix this. Jesus Christ was/is not God. He's the son of God.
  20. I need a new call: My scriptures were stacked on top of my mission call, on top of my envelope. And my mother decided to use my mission call to test out her pen. Then, she tried to erase it, using a blue eraser; leaving a large blue stain on my call. Does anyone know how to receive a new call signed by the prophet?
  21. Gracias.
  22. I woke up at 7am and couldn't get back to sleep. I waited all day for the mail and finally - it came! I put my papers in last Tuesday and beyond some peoples belief I actually got it today. I held on to my call until about 3 pm (received it at 1) and read it in front of my family. To give you guys some background on my background, I have a pretty rough patch in my highschool days. Finding the church again was one of the best blessings in my entire life and it has been worth every bit. As I began to read "Dear Elder Allred: You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" my eyes welled up with tears, these were words that I had wanted to read since I can remember. I always was moved by the first words of a mission call and finally received a call beginning with my name. I continued to read and paused before I read where I am going -- my sister was visiting from Connecticut with her new husband for her reception this week; perfect timing to get my call. I said "Oh my goodness" and read that I am assigned to labor in the Connecticut Hartford Mission. My sister started to cry. She was not married in the temple, and her husband is an RM but inactive. Now I will be serving in their state. She was so happy that I may one day go to the temple with her after my mission. Everyone cheered and my mom was crying. It was really loud and then I remembered "hey, I wanted to learn a language" and continued reading. I told everyone to wait a minute! I then read "You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Spanish language." I was absolutely speechless. My mother had first said when I decided to go that she thinks I was going to New England area States, and I even thought I may go to New York. I wanted to learn a language really bad, and kind of wanted to go somewhere cold. It's almost spooky that everything fell into place so well. Here is something I shared with my friend who is putting his papers in in these next few weeks: "you probably hear this a lot, but let me tell you what it feels like in detail. People say "Wherever you go, it'll be great" when I heard that I thought "they are just telling me that so I am happy with anything" but it really is so true. You'll open your call and read "You are hereby called to serve as a missionary..." and then you'll read where you are going and the burning in your bosom is there. You may shake, or be numb. But it's the most amazing feeling in the world. you know that's where you need to be." I leave for the MTC on December 9th and will be there for I believe two months to learn the language. Hopefully my sister living so close doesn't move me, it shouldn't but I have heard of it. I know this is where I need to be. I can't wait to teach the people of Connecticut and Rhode Island. I think that's about all I have for now. :)
  23. It's funny I should run across this post tonight. I just got ordained an elder, and I don't feel any different than I did 4 hours ago. But -- this post is almost spot on to how I feel. And I think the second poster was correct. Overanalyzing. I think even I am over analyzing the ordination. Thinking I should feel different, or spiritually high. But, just because you don't have a spiritual high does not mean that it's not true. The church is true, and you always will have satan pushing you away from a good thing. I have resolved my past but sometimes I still feel unworthy. I like to refer to D&C 58. That always brings me to good spirits. Another thing is just to pick up some of the standard works and just read, from anywhere, for as long as I need to to feel better. I hope that my story somewhat helps you.
  24. How are mission calls made? Does your background REALLY make a difference? Or do they pick anyone to really go anywhere. Say someone wanted to speak a different language; is it just luck of the draw? What about if you want to stay in the states?
