We prepare and prepare to stay at home during an emergency. Food, stored water and a 90 day supply of Prozac should help us hunker down at home. We forget that an emergency might force use out into the cold. Thank goodness Prozac pills are small and don't weigh a lot.

I enjoyed that they all dressed up for dinner, I think they did dress up like the Cleavers in the sitcom (Leave it to Beaver).

A High School class, many of us took World history. I remember slides that showed the German people after WW1 trying to cash in there German Marks. A person with a wheel barrel full of German Marks went into a bakery to buy a loaf of bread and when he came out there was German Marks piled on the sidewalk and his wheel barrel had been taken. HISTORY WILL REPEAT IT"S SELF! it always does.

Lint for a firestarter is a great idea. Our fire department rolls on 2 or 3 lint/vent fires every year. The stuff really burns.

It was interesting to listen to all of the comments made on the news about the loss of power, and hardships it created. My family has been out of power for 14 hours. The last few hour became very long and we began to wonder when the lights would come back on. We had water and the weather was mild. We thought it was fun in the begaining but it soon grew old. It's amazing how much we depend on Rocky Mountain Power. Still hate my monthly bill>

True, true....Silver to barter with is the main reason for buying the shine stuff, but it's fun to clink them together.

I'm not so sure about storing alot of food. If you have alot of food, you will probably be sharing it with everyone that hasent stored food! They will all love you and thank you. What to do, what to do....

I want to purchase silver, but should I buy silver dollars, or should I buy 1oz silver rounds or should I buy 10oz silver bar. I don't have alot of money, but I think some silver might be a good idea to hedge agains inflation.

My wife has canned peaches, sulsa, and other things. It's a art that many of our young won't do our don't no how to do. It makes you what to inventory your food storage.

We lost cell phones for nearly a full day, and the outage started in Grand Juction Colorado, and that was not even an emergency. I'm not sure you can depend on cell phones during an emergency.

Do these Family handheld walkie talkies really work? I see them on the store shelf saying they can reach out 15 miles. Can they be used for ward or stake communications? What's the skivey on these radios that everyones buying?

Rivet, I don't own a Judge, but many people do. I was thinking that it would be a gun used for closeup defense in the home if the person holding it dosent have a great deal of expericnce with handguns or rifles. The 410 cartrige would cover a wider area in a hall way. Law officers have missed at under 5 feet, I'm sure that if I had to use a gun it would only be dumb luck it I hit anything.

Mountain home, or Wise foods, or Daily Bread make great foods that last upto 30 years stored in your closet. Having both a long term source of food, and stocking up on food that you eat and like is a smart idea. Make sure you rotate your food like others have said.

The kids and I go out and shoot cans and tartgets, but my wife stays home and does her thing. I wish she would come out and practice, practice practice. Just having a gun in the house dosent make you safe.

You've peeked my interst in communications. My kids Walkie Talkies won't transmit past the end of the driveway, what should I get?

In the book (One second after) they tried to keep the insulin cold by putting the insulin in the water on the back side of the toliet which keep it colder. I think you can freeze baby formula and maybe other meds to extend there life.

I hope someone besides me is watching the series (Doomsday Preppers). This validates my comments about over preparing. This people on the show are nuts.

OK, OK... I'll buy a case of chicken soup and a case of peanut butter. Our emergency preparedness guy in the ward said just start adding a few cans of what ever you like and pretty soon I would have a three month supply. I've seen the light, maybe I should store some extra batteries, what do you think?

What if I don't store alot of food, and that 7 years of famine hits. I've been a good member of my ward, they can't just watch me starve. I could do alot with that money that would go into food that will probably just go to waste anyway.
