Loudmouth...... It wasn't my intent to punish but to inform (rather bluntly) that his choices and actions now can and will have dire consequences. That he is treading on dangerous ground.
-
I appreciate all the responses....even those who don't agree w/ my actions. And yes I do (and hope I still) have a relationship with my nephew. And I guess IF it was one or two beers on the weekend I would really have an easier time however it is copious amount of alcohol. He is putting himself at risk legally for MIP (minor in possession) and DUI and not to mention the health risks. I am also well aware of addictive behavior and he is showing some tell tell signs. Perhaps I am being over protective and over reacting but I have pulled too many dead kids (and yes in my mind he is still a kid) out of cars.

Background: My 19 (turns 20 next month) old nephew lives away from home. Has completely fallen away from the church. He drinks (and I don't mean H2O) and is basically sowing his wild oats. In a nut shell....Word of Wisdom and morality. He has on numerous occasions stated that he would really like to pursue a career similiar to mine and I have given him numerous suggestions when he has asked. Information came my way via FB (his Facebook) about his drinking habits and so a few days ago I met up with him and.......... 1. basically told him how unwise/unhealthy/potentially harmful his behavior was. and... 2. told him that a year ago I would of gladly had him come on a call with me but now w/ his behavior/attitude I wouldn't. So....did I mess up? Grant it I can't change what I did but any advise would be appreciated! Thanks

Good question.........I've done some living history and I've done a couple of treks and there is a part of me that would very much think I could of done 1840-1870s. But 1787 also fancies me.

Pam....its a great place to visit!!! Star Valley is roughly 4 hours from SLC. It is 1.5 from Idaho Falls , Idaho and about 1 hour from Jackson Hole. I am wondering if the Afton Tabernacle will be the new temple????? I so can't wait for further details. Here's just a tidbit of info on the Tabernacle LDS Church News - Star Valley's landmark building has key role in celebration

Growing up and having deep roots in Star Valley Wyoming my heart is full with the new announcement!! This will be the first temple in Wyoming and a fulfillment of a prophecy (sorry can't sight source). For those of you not familiar Star Valley (which consists of several small towns Smoot, Fairfield, Osmond, Afton, Grover, Thayne, Bedford, Freedom, Etna and Alpine) was settled by the early saints. It is a picturesque valley that a beautiful Temple will only add to it!!!!

I just listened to it and I couldn't agree more Pam! It truly was an amazing talk and I too felt as if he was talking directly to me. I needed to hear the "Forget Me Nots" but I really needed to hear the story of the dear teacher who never married or had a family. Even though I am married I am so that sister! I have allowed infertility to command every aspect of my life! I have be so engrossed with what I don't have that I have completely forgotten what I do! I have become that bitter sister that no one (including myself!) wants to be around. I have wanted nothing but the perfect rose and have missed the lillies and the orchids along the way. As I look back I have missed much but thankfully I still have tomorrow!

Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Tom Brokaw
confuzzled replied to ldseastcoast's topic in Church News and Events
I just thought that this was really neat.............. "In an additional 9/11 remembrance, respected news anchor Tom Brokaw will join the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for a special edition of Music and the Spoken Word to air Sunday, 11 September." -
I debated and debated on whether or not to get one. I like the feel of the page, I like the feel of opening a new book or for that fact an old favorite. Well.....my husband got me one for my birthday and I love it. Do I still miss some aspects...yes. But not living close to a real book store this has allowed me to read more (which could be bad!!) and not have to worry has to where to store them.

I have to agree w/ Ben that every one is entitled to their own opinion. Gun ownership (especially handguns) brings heated debat on both sides. I am a cops wife and my husband carries at church. There is a great article entitled.. "sheep, sheepdogs and wolves" On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs Take the time to read it. I for one am indeed greatful for the "sheepdogs" their duty, their responsibility is a heavy one.

Thanks so much for your comments LDSJewess. I really do appreciate them. I feel that we are diving head first into the unknown as far as the private adoption goes. There is limited info. out there and one can't always believe everything you read. 1. We have been contacted by a birth couple. 2. We have been in contact w/ an attorney and 3. we are in the process of getting ready for a home study.

Wyoming, an Adventure into Mormon Pioneer History
confuzzled replied to pam's topic in Church News and Events
I have deep roots in good ole Wyoming and am truly thankful for those pioneers!!!! One location that few know about is the Cody Mural Visitor Center ..... if your up there it is a must see!!!! The Cody Mural Visitor Center in Cody, Wyoming -
I have done my research...its just helpful to hear from others who have gone before so to speak. I guess I'm looking for ..... if they they had it to do again they would do..... or I wish we did this instead of that. Is private better then going through an agency and so forth.
