Your harmones are/where upside down most likely you were feeling men harmones which are not the motherly type. (Dont read too harshly I just know that those times are so hard with emotions and your feelings are very very real and you think your crazy and don't deserve the love, But you do.

    Kids

One rule of thumb. Don't pull out the goodiebag and toys when you first sit down in church, Wait. Don't do entertaining things until after the sacrament has been passed and they sit down. It will be very hard at first but it really works. They will learn that quite time is now and if they are good after the sacrament is done they can have there books, coloring and treat. This is a time for closeness in the family and reflect on Jesus. Your kids are not too young and in fact this is when they learn best. Yes, Yes of course they are going to test you don't fail the test and give in to them. It will work. (I'm a mother who knows this does work.) By doing this you will find that it splits the meeting into two parts. First-quiet time not only do the kids have quiet time, (time out) but the Parents do too. They will think that is neat to. Second-they will be able to color, read/look at books play with their magnets (these are great if you don't know about these I'll let you know.) and then a treat most parents give candy BIG mistake!! there are plenty of things good for kids in small form, examples: cut up cheese in a bag or cheese string. cut up apple. small pieces of bread. At this time keep them close don't let the sprawled out all over the place in time they will catch on that you still want them close to you. I did this from the very beginning there was no transition of okay your older now be good and sit still. It started as I said from them being a baby. I wouldn't get out even the picture books out until after sacrament. Kids are very smart and it won't take long for them to learn what is going on. Yes I had to walk out with a tempered child, I then would get down on their level and explain to them it is time to think of Jesus and not playing. They would nod their head and I would get a big hug and I'm sorry, I love you mom. (that's the best thing always.) I know this might sound harsh and alittle strict but actually it really isn't and you will thank yourself for doing it now and not later when they are older. You will also find that you will bond with your children during this time. Yes, that seems long time for them to wait. For the time it starts until after the sacrament is passed and completed but, just you wait in time you will find you long for this time every week. Also, teach them they shouldn't go out during the meeting. Families that allow this to happen have more problems with the child sitting still then the families that don't allow it.
  4. My thoughts; I think we will find that we will need a house in heaven. Isn't a house a gathering place. A place where your family comes together which is what makes it a home. As a child likes to play house because that is what it sees it parents do, are we not the same within the real picture? Sure we don't remember but we still gather together as a family and extended family members if only for the holidays because of busy lifestyle. I have alway felt that is why we need our "mansion in the sky". We are always busy but we always go home, that is where love is and where it started. Thanks for posting this. It got me excited for what we have to look forward too. I can't wait
  5. It is true we don't know the exact year, day, time and moment of His arrival. However; we are told to watch, pray and be ready. I feel that if we are watchers we will know when it is truly upon us. There are some that say when He will be arriving (and I seem to lean towards their thoughts). If these seem to be correct we really don't have much time left to get ready. There have been things stated that I don't know being new here if it is appropriate to bring up. These are things seen as signs of the times. I have heard of some very assume things happening. It isn't all doom and gloom that will be happening. I like to always say- Get ready, get set, Here He Comes!
  6. "I would summarize that a righteous spirit must be sought for; but unclean spirits seek us out at ever opportunity. The Traveler" Sorry I don't know how to do the quote thing yet. I agree that at times I feel that a "swarm of bats" (a better thing to say it so I don't have to give them power if you get my meaning) have swept down and are attacking me even though I can't see them. At one time I was told I must be doing something wrong in which I quickly responded NO, I'm doing something right and they don't like it and they are trying to stop me. -and they never will- I don't have the quote but I believe it was President Woodruff who stated that there will become a time where the evil will finally see the good that is being done and will swoop down upon us trying to destroy us and the work we do. I think President Hinckley stated this very well in conference a few years back, he said that evil has found it's way into the church. (This isn't a direct quote but I could find it.) I do believe this is what he was saying that evil was trying it's best to destroy us and our faith. I Don't know about you guys, but I think we have been swooped upon like never before. No matter what religion you are if you walk with Christ, duck! and keep up the Good Work!
  7. Doesn't it go like this: We don't get baptized to repent rather we repent of our sins and then are baptized washing all are sins away (if we had any) washing us clean bringing why it states immersion and from then on we strive to be like Christ doing goodworks and still at times needing to repent. Where with Christ he didn't need to repent but he was Baptized and received the Holy Ghost showing us the way in which we should walk returning home to our Heavenly Father thusly being saved? This is what it means to me and sounds like.
  8. Hi, I am from Utah and I think the stories a laugh the people are not snobs its the business' that are being that way. (Which they are all new comers to Draper except the factory outlet and they use to be like a DI of items from other stores.) They are afraid that everyone will shop at the DI. Don't they know people in Salt Lake go every where in the valley to shop. Draper was all dairy farms you went there for your milk, eggs and cheese. Yes to say the least Draper really did stink. (ever been to a cheese factory! Stinky Stinky) the other thing which is a laugh are these houses they built on the mountain side of draper. This was partially owned by the Prison and there was an old cemetary there of prisoners who died and their bodies never claimed. I was there a couple of times once to win a bet with my husband that it was really there. I can't remember but someone famous was buried there or should I say historically a very bad bank robber is/was buried there. I don't know what happened to the graves but needless to say houses are there now. Draper also have strict laws of what you can do with your yards and parking. In some of there communities the garages are in the back and you can only park in alleyways not on the street and where they don't have alleyways you can't just park your car in your own driveway. I will be first to say Utah is very different in other areas too. I think its because when you ask anyone most everyone is really from a different state a migration took place fast and furious and I think we all have different was of doing things. It's not the old Utah way anymore I know I grew up here and it has change drastically. The city I live in the people are just plan mean and rude this has nothing to do with religion its just the way people are treating each other. I hate it. I am so tired of the rudeness of others. Forget about crimes and bad things happening in you neighborhood watch out for the rage that everyone is carrying around. Maybe this part belongs on a thread of rude people you meet everyday and then the happy nice people that come around once in a great while (Bless them) they are there its just hard to find them.
  9. Thank you, I loved hearing it. I am a HUGE fan of Red Skelton. When I was little I would try and be funny like him spreading Peanut butter and a piece of bread and making it believable like he did with his skits. I also loved it when just before he died he asked that all comedians try to make people laugh by not belittling anyone in a joke just to get laughs and you don't need to swear to make it sound funny. He then pleaded for them to not take the Lords name in Vain by saying it all the time when talking. Which I wish they wouldn't do that on tv either.
  10. This is probably a stupid question but here it goes anyway: If we don't do or change things because it offends others because of religious or nonreligious believes, Am I not inturn being offended? Asking because I do feel offended at times when things I take pride in is screamed about and the dragged off to never seen again. The flag was on its way out also until 9-11 and then the pride came back into the hearts of the people. I think we have gone over board on this and we have chained ourselfs to the point of no freedom except for someone else who doesn't feel it. Lady Justice is loosing her balance.
  11. Yet again, I find myself responding to an old thread. Take heart I will catch up on my reading and will be on the same level has you guys. Yet again I find that I just have to say something concerning this article or at least put my input on it. (that means the same doesn't it?) I remember when this stupid story came out and I was offended by it. Because, reading this you will find he is stating that UTAH LDS people are over weight compared to other religions weeeeeeeeelllllllllll dah the number one religion in Utah is LDS so of course we are more over weight. I do think we are over weight not because of over eating or even that we don't try to eat right. I try very hard to keep our family in line but it's not working. We are always on the go never enough time and so like all, We hurry and grab or fix something easy. Not to mention too busy with callings not enough time for doing weekly calling, visiting teaching, letting them visit you, home teaching, letting them come to your home, helping your neighbors (I do have some funny stories there of myself needing help and helping them, I love my neighbors). Don't forget work, school and once again for the fifth time today the house needs cleaned and everyone is out of clean clothes. AND WHat DINNER AGAIN ARE YOU SURE YOU NEED DINNER TONIGHT? If this isn't enough of our lives remember I left one important thing that brings the weight gain straight to my hips --STRESS-- Don't let me get started listing all the stresses in our lives. One thing I have to also mention they stated that Utah is also very high in Bankruptcy and foreclosures but did they mention that business are leaving Utah at a fast rate and layoffs are HUGE here! More stress, more weight. I have lost 7 family members in my neighborhood due to layoffs and they had to move out of state to find work. No jobs here for them.
  12. Hello, I am new here and have been reading this thread. I am LDS and would like to say a few things. First the word mormon is really used by those that are not LDS it is a nickname nonmembers have given us. There are times that inactive members will refer to themselves as a "jackmormon" but most all active members refer to themselves as a Latter Day Saint-LDS. Also when say that we take pride and confidence I think that is what some think of us. I don't think we as members really think that way remember when looking into a candy store it looks much different then when your the store. Perception always gets in the way. I am married and was married in the SL Temple. We see ourselves as it was stated "married for time and all eternity", not death do you part. If anything it makes us strive harder when times get tuff between us even the thought of us being together forever really does help you work on our marriage. We are also a forever family because my daughter was adopted and we took her to the temple and were sealed together as a forever family in the Temple. It isn't any arrogance or thinking that we are better than others it is just simple our believe. We (my husband and I) were taught that there is a way to be together in the hereafter and we believe it. We have faith in it. We try and strive every day to live so we will be together always. Believe me I know it just isn't because we were married in the temple guarantees we will be together it is that we went to the temple to show our faith and now we try to live it everyday. Being new here I am sure you have heard to some extence what I have written but I just felt like saying how I see things. And by the way when it comes to other religions I feel the same about theirs I am looking in the candy store and not in it so I don't know what it's like. remember I'm a newbiee
  13. Okay this was discussed a long time ago, but it was just reinterduced by Ray and so I went into it and read it. This is my take on it. When your in the forest you see a tree, you see the tree fall, you hear the tree fall and you can feel the tree fall. Faith is that you know when you leave the forest, trees will still fall even though you don't see them, the falling tree will still make a sound even though you don't hear it, and the tree will still vibrate the ground even though you don't feel it. Thus creating the faith within yourself that it will all take place even though you don't use your senses and become a witness to it you still know it took place or will take place. Faith is senses and beyond your senses. Things do take place even if we don't witness it and the building of our faith is that we at times became a witness to it. (Whatever IT is in our lives)>
  14. Hello everyone! I was working at the church building when the tornado hit SLC and it really did go around the temple. The really interesting point of it is there was this tree there that they were going to take out because it was to old and rotted but people loved this tree. Brides would sit init to have their picture taken, anyway there was a debate on would they really take it out or not weellll guess what the tornado did. The tree was in front of the temple and to the south. In the back of the temple the tornado was to the north going east. it started at a north east direction shiffted went south east around the temple and then headed again to the northeast. All I can say is that it was very scary as tornados are.
