  1. Hello Brothers and Sisters,

    .

    - I couldn't pick up college again after returning

    .

Thanks so much for your support already!! :) I hope you have a fantastic day!

Just to answer one of your points.

Three of the missionaries whom have been in our Ward in the two years I have been attending have returned home to the USA. All three have started doing a University Degree.

    One in maths

    One in engineering

    One in engineering robotics

    All are doing tremendously well.

It must be difficult for your parents to understand what a mission actually means when they aren't LDS themselves.

I say that if you want to do a mission then don't be dissuaded from it. If you feel it in your heart then it is something that you must do.

  2. In looking at the picture (which isn't very clear) the only possible thing I could see him referring to is her neck line.

    From BYU Honor Code:

The portion I think he would refer to would be the 'revealing' verbage. I definitely don't think her neck line would cover a temple garment. I know the world has different standards but I too would find her neck line immodest for someone trying to live LDS modesty standards and the BYU Honor code.

The neckline of that dress WOULD most definitely cover a Temple garment!!!

Having been Endowed now just over a month I can safely say that.

  3. I took my Endowments in January.

By four days before the appointed day the nerves kicked in. By the time I got through the Temple doors all signs of nervousness just vanished into thin air to be replaced by subdued excitement of the commitment I was about to make.

Our Temple gave me a clear Temple Recommend Holder - even though I had already bought a fancy affair to be prepared.

Don't worry about the Endowment process. You are led by the hand from the moment you arrive at the front door of the Temple to the moment you take your Endowments and afterwards too. My Escort had very little to do except to be with me by my side. It took all of the 90 minutes prep that they require to get through the various bits and pieces to get organised for the Endowment portion.

You don't need to remember anything. I remember the Bishop saying to me that all I needed to really pay attention to was taking the Covenants. Actually I do remember most of the whole thing although not word for word, obviously.

Enjoy it, it is a most wonderful, spiritual and transforming experience.

  4. A Synopsis by Victor Zammit

Is there life after death? What form does it take?

Various Christian denominations and leaders have taught conflicting answers to those two questions:

We eventually land up in Heaven, Hell, Limbo, Purgatory, Sheol, or some other place, state, or condition.

We simply disappear and cease to exist in any form.

Our souls separate immediately from our body and go to Heaven or Hell while our bodies remain on Earth to decay.

We sleep for a long time after death before waking up for a final judgment.

We are reincarnated into new bodies to live another lifetime on Earth, either as a human or animal.

We go through a number of steps after death before we end up in our final destination.

Infants who die go to Limbo, where they remain in an infant state forever.

  5. We believe that we existed as spirits before we came to this earth. As spirits, we lived with our Heavenly Father. When we were born, our spiritual bodies joined with our physical bodies.

On this earth we grow and gain valuable experiences, solidifying relationships and learning to follow God's commandments.

When we die our spirits and our bodies once again separate, but not permanently. Because Christ suffered on the cross, died, and was resurrected on the third day, He overcame death for all of us. All of us will be resurrected, meaning that our bodies and our spirits will once again be united.

Our resurrected bodies will be perfect, no longer feeling pain, sickness or death. Christ gave this gift to all of us, no matter how we lived our lives on earth. However, if we live righteously and follow all of God's commandments, He will give us an even greater gift. If we live righteously we can live with Him and our families forever. The relationships that we formed on earth will continue after this life. I am so grateful to know that as long as I follow God's commandments, I can be with my family forever.

  6. If I had had such a harsh, judgmental attitude, I would have missed out on the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I was living church standards before the first time I attended sacrament meeting. However, it had been graciously and caringly explained to me that taking the sacrament was a renewal of baptismal covenants. Having not yet been baptized, there were no covenants to renew. Seems pretty straightforward and logical. It seemd entirely appropriate to me that I NOT take the sacrament. Out of respect for those teachings, and that covenant which I did not yet share, I didn't take the sacrament until after my baptism, when I actually had a covenent to renew. I felt very blessed.

I do not understand the disrespect of going to a church (or synagogue or mosque) for the first time and having the attitude of "If you don't let me do it my way, I am not coming back!". Had I taken that attitude, I would have missed out on the very covenant that the sacrament is meant to renew!

That's just it. Nobody said that I could/could not take the Sacrament.

Babies as young as 18 months old take Sacrament in our Ward.

Children are innocent in the eyes of God and if they pass before they are 8 years of age they go straight to the Celestial Kingdom. Therefore there is no reason for them not to take Sacrament before they are baptised into the LDS Church.

It is mortal man making rules and regulations that they have no business making.

Until such time as the First Presidency declare that all non-members cannot take Sacrament then it should be left as it is.

What is the point about all this pontificating about stuff that has nothing to do with us ??

A lot of folks on this Forum judge others when they have no place to do so, whether they are Priesthood holders or not. I was judged from the very beginning - by bigotted individuals who chose to label me.

I am leaving the Forum, it is a total waste of space.

  7. When I started attending an LDS Church I had been investigating the Church, reading LDS books, etc for some 10 months.

The day I first attended a Sacrament Meeting I was in total adherence to the WoW and the principles of the Church. The only thing I had not had was the baptism.

If someone had said to me that first day that I could not take Sacrament I would not have gone back.

  8. i am trying to sign on to new family search to prepare names for temple ordniances. i do not know which way to go.

Start with what you know already - yourself, siblings, parents, grandparents, other close family members then work from there.

Be warned - it is addictive!!

  9. So if it is 'not a requirement' why was I asked the question when going for my own Endowments????

I was being questioned by the Temple President's wife.

I do feel that it is totally necessary for someone to have the Temple classes before undertaking their Endowments so that they realise the full gravity of the step that they are taking.

  10. In Joseph Smith's day, 99% of the Freemason believed this, some even going to Adam for the source of Freemasonry. Today, maybe 10% still believe this, because they don't believe the historical research of the past 100 years or so. Sad.

You made specific covenants not to reveal certain select portions of the endowment. About maybe 5% of the endowment, or less.

    HiJolly

I was told NOT to reveal any of the Endowment to anyone, and I will stick by that.

Nobody revealed any of the Endowment to me prior to my taking it for myself.

I will certainly not discuss any of it with anyone, whether on an internet Forum or not.

If you go into current Freemason history you will find that Noah is behind the practices and beliefs of the Freemasons - that is actual fact. Speak to someone whom is a Freemason and you will find out that it is true. Nothing to do with the history of the LDS Church or JS.

You can look at the Freemasonry's own reference books -

(Mackey, Lexicon of Freemasonry, page 324, 2004, Barnes and Noble Publishing, Inc.)

  11. From first joining the Church, if I wasn't feeling well but at Church, one of the Stake presidency would suggest having a Blessing. When I agreed she went and found my Home Teachers and got them to do it.

Now I just ask when I feel I need one done.

The very fact that someone sits down on the chair in order to have the Blessing done is agreeing to it being done, so I can't see any problem in someone else asking for that Blessing on the Member's behalf.

  12. What was your mood today?

    Calm and happy

    What were your activities today?

Went to Church for 9.30am. Got home at 2pm. Had lunch.

    Changed into pyjamas.

Read some from two LDS books and went over the work for the Class for this week's Adult Institute

Why do you usually dress the way you do?

Being properly dressed is important to me. I like to look nice for me, never mind everybody else.

  13. The normal wedding ceremony, either the Temple or the Ward building does not have a specific section for exchange of rings where they say anything about the rings. Our Ward weddings in the Chapel have been simply that the couple exchange rings and everyone watches.

  14. Yes I have to take breaks. I too have an autoimmune/chronic disease and its tough to make myself move through the pain and fatigue. Its easy to just sit here all day sometimes. My mind is occupied and my body isn't screaming at me. But... for my mind to not get stressed I have to do something productive every day. My grandson helps keep me moving too. :)

I have the autoimmune/chronic disease too, so that is now three of us.

At least if I have a really bad pain day I can still get stuff done online and keep in touch with the outside world via the internet.

  15. I think you're confusing Richard O'Dwyer with Gary McKinnon. McKinnon is a conspiracy theorist who allegedly hacked into US military and NASA computers about 10 years ago. But you're right - he is also fighting extradition to the USA.

O'Dwyer is in trouble because his website included links to other sites where copyright protected material can be illegally downloaded. This is not a crime in the UK. (Perhaps it should be, but it isn't.) The Americans want the British to hand him over, to stand trial in the States where it is illegal.

I can't imagine many countries having the audacity to demand this and expect to be taken seriously. Imagine Mexico asking Washington to hand over American citizens for trial in Mexico, for doing things in the USA which the Mexicans didn't like. The US Government would laugh in their face!

Apologies - was thinking of the young man with Aspergers

  16. Yeah, what I mean is transgenders who are post op, who aslo lean heavily toward their unintended sex, sch as a male completely appearing female. with the exception of his sex which is down there.

Reason why I ask is because there seems to be a huge grey area when it comes to transgenders. Like wha about a transgender pre op who has joined the church. It is a sin to get a sex change type of surgery or take the hormones, so they have to live intended a their sex.

Now if a transgender pre op was to join the church naturally he/she would be comfortable with their sex and body so i cant see any reason for them to get a sex change surgery. but this still leaves the question as to whom would they date?

Jezebel, you are saying that they should dress acccording to their outside appearence of their sex, since that clothing would best fit their appearence. But at the same you are saying they must date somone opposite of their actual sex. This means a transgendered pre op male must date a woman, but they still both have the same body, with a small exception. Not to mention making that step toward woman might be difficult since both their body and homones are geared toward attracting and being attracted to men.

This is where the grey zone lies. Hormones says the sex opposite of their outer body, but their sex between their legs says the the opposite of their actual sex, but by doing this they are being with somone whose outer body resemlbes the same sex as theres, and overall their homrones say go date a person whose outher sex appearence is opposite. So either way they mess up either by their exact sex, there appeared sex, or there hormonones who steers them toward such sex?

    Actually I was not.

I work in therapy and have dealt with a lot of these problems through my work over the last 20 years. Not that I have seen anyone in Church with these problems.

If a man is 'transgendered' but does nothing about it other than cross-dress then they are transvestite.

My work experience has been that a full transgendered male pre-op without hormone treatment would not want to appear to be male.

Are you sure you aren't posting this as a cheap thrill?

  17. What the Americans should be doing is paying Richard O'Dwyer to gain information from him to tighten up their security system, instead of berating him for THEIR website security for being so lax in the first place.

In the UK the banks pay clever young men and women to investigate security on their websites and each time they report a problem they pay them £50.
