  1. Well, I'm convinced. Why did I not see these obvious problems ever before? Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, Gib, for pointing out these things. You must be some kind of genius to point out such obvious contradictions that nobody has ever seen or shown to Mormons before. How was I ever so blinded by those evil Mormons with their human sacrifices and driving on the wrong side of the road? :dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

    Haha!!!

    I love that!!! :wow:

  2. Micah 5:2 "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

Jesus was prophecied to be born in Bethlehem, and that prophecy came true. Yet the Mormon Bible says,

Alma 7: 10 "And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin..."

Thats interesting.... Jerusalem and Bethlehem are hardly the same. Contradictory.

    heres another:

Moroni 8:8 says that children aren't capable of sinning. But Psalms 51:5 says children are born into sinfulness and can sin.

last couple i have to ask is this:

why does numbers 3:10 say "Appoint Aaron and his sons to serve as priests; anyone else who approaches the sanctuary must be put to death."

Yet 2 Nephi 5:26 says "And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did consecrate Jacob and Joseph, that they should be priests and teachers over the land of my people."

Why did the Jews in the Americas (which already have no archeological evidence of existing there) build temples when the Jews in Israel believed the temple at Jerusalem was the only true House of God?

Do you believe in the bible?

If so, do you know that there are contridictions in the bible as well?

  3. In book, FBI agent says Saddam Hussein cried at last meeting

    BY JAMES GORDON MEEK

    DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

    Tuesday, November 13th 2007, 11:37 AM

WASHINGTON - After confessing to slaughtering 180,000 Kurds and plotting to build a doomsday nuke, Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was so upset when his FBI interrogator left for home that he cried like a baby.

    ......

The self-effacing G-man was hardly surprised - he had spent nearly a year carefully becoming Saddam's best friend in a successful ploy to extract confessions from the notorious brute.

Part of me believes torture woiuld be more humane.... :(

  4. My wife and I are dead set against our kids having sleep overs, whether it be at someone else's house or our own. These days it is just way to risky. Even if you know the home you are sending your kids to, even if they are members of the church, it does not mean nothing will happen. There are usually older siblings of the opposite sex and parents in the house with them. I won't allow them in my house because I wouldn't want members of my family to be tempted to do those things, or even to be accused of them.

Are we the only ones who feel this way?

When I was younger I went on sleepovers pretty much every weekend at my friend Candice's.

I understand not sleeping over in the house of someone of the opposite sex (provided they are attracted to the opposite sex), but I don't see a problem with them sleeping over at their best friends house...

But everyone is different, and what you feel comfortable with and what you trust your kids with is all your choice.

They can't make mistakes if you don't let them... right????

  5. Why do cats always land on their feet?

I am sure there is a real reason, but I have never thought to ask until now...

Why did John Travolta agree to wear a dress for a movie called "Hairspray"? I have lost all respect.

  6. I had a MySpace account, but I rarely used it to begin with. I had a little bit of fun looking for a layout, but other than that, it was boring.

Something me and my friends realized was a huge difference, was your connection with people. I have TONS of my friends on my Facebook, and I am constantly getting reunited with old ones. I love sending gifts, and the birthday reminder is a life saver!

It is SO EASY to communicate and keep track of what everyone is up to and feeling.

I just like it a lot better.

  7. <div class='quotemain'>

That can mean that they opened up or describing "the flood." It says nothing about it being the first time it rained.

I agree with Dr T on this. Read the account in Moses of the life of Enoch. He asks the Lord how he can weep "like the rain upon the mountains" for the wickedness of the world when he is all powerful. Enoch was before Noah. How did he know of rain if it never had done that before?

If it had NEVER reined before, than how would water be recycled? And how would people live?

  8. Major geek/nerd here. HOWEVUH, I really still like the 64. I found two of them at a garage sale recently with Golden Eye and Zelda, Ocarina of Time, and all the fun that 64 was after the Super Nintendo came back. I started going to Game Stop and finding all the old 64 games. What a hoot. But, Wii is on my birthday list of things to get myself. That and this AMD dualcore/dualchannel processor I have been coveting. Vidiot is the word I should have used. :wow:

    ME TOO!
  9. Well, I guess what I should have said in my introduction post is that I like to ask serious and heavy questions. I like to ask them out of curiosity, out of skepticism, but mostly out of the sense to learn.

It seems as though I have already ruffled some feathers among the regulars here who cannot handle some honest and heavy questions. I am not here to start a commotion, as Maureen charged, but to ask questions and learn.

But look, if you people are serious about your religion then maybe you can put aside your pretense and have an honest dialogue about the Mormon faith. After all, isn’t it about winning souls and fighting the good fight?

    Thanks,

    blazius

    Hey.

I ask the same kind of questions, but you should remember that it should be in moderation.

People can't be prodded about their faith.

It is a lot easier to get a question that is really bugging you, and research a lot of LDS sources first, so you really know their point of view before you ask.

It is like going to get a car or something.

Only go educated as far as you can, and then be respectful of the answer, and always ask the source.

That is what I try and do anyway.

... TRY. I hope I do okay with that.

I still have a tiny bit of faith in the Church. I will often go to the Book of Mormon and try to harness that faith, but it just does not seem to be working. I thought perhaps having Mormons to talk to would make it a bit easier, so I registered an account here. I've posted here before, but I forget what user ID I had and the password.

    Hey.

The exact same thing happened to me.

I hope things work out for you the way you feel they should...

    Nice to meet you jimradictis!
