For instance how would they answer this:

"Did God intend for mankind to live forever on earth without the fall (in the Garden, etc.)?"

No... because that would imply that he made a mistake.

He sees everything, including the past, present and the future as if it was right in front of him.

So if the fall was a bad thing why did He give us agency?

That is why the fall wasn't a bad thing. ^_^

He makes no mistakes, therefore, no "bad things".

n_n Does it say "chalk flavor" on the container? :P

yes, but they spell it "peppermint"

    :wow:

  4. Those over-the-counter things work fine, but be careful because they can cause the opposite ... coughconstipationcough!

Hope you feel better soon, Desire. BTW, what's with the sad avatar? Hope that's not truly representative of you. It's great to see you back around here.

Haha. No. I am fine. I just can't find any fun aviators.

I spent some f yesterday trying to make some, and then just gave up.

  5. Hey.

I have been on and off sick lately, along with <_< *coughdiarreacough* something else.

I was just wondering what was the best way to relieve a sick tummy.

I am not a parent, but since you are parents, I figured you might have some idea's.

^_^ You can help if you aren't a parent too though.

    Thankies.

    Love,

    Dezzie!

  6. I was just asking a simple question about basically what you believe, sorry. I expected a little nicer reaction than what I got back from about half of you, but the other half was very nice, thank you. I'm sorry if some of you didnt like what I said, but I was just curious about your faith. Thank you!!!

It seems that not only LDS found you rude.

Maybe you should write what you are planning on saying, and sleeping on it.

You come off a little rude to me as well.

  7. I am a faithful Mormon male. I believe in the LDS church with all my heart, but there is one issue that has bothered me for many years about it. I once forbade myself to even think about this issue for about 10 years. It is the issue of polygamy.

Don't get me wrong. I have a testimony that it is true and it's even been revealed to me that I may well one day be living it. But it seems so blasted unfair to the women involved -- why should they have to share their husband(s) with other women?

It strikes me as very unfair that a man could have so many wives he couldn't even spend a reasonable amount of time with any one of them. Joseph Smith had about 33 wives when he died. How could he have possibly spent any time with any of them, when he had all his church, civic, and other duties to deal with, along with persecution? Brigham Young and Heber Kimball had 36 and about 42 wives respectively -- why did they need so blasted many? Kimball said he thought no more of marrying a wife than he did of buying a cow. This saying bothers me more than any other thing I've heard about this subject.

Why would Joseph Smith tell at least one of his wives that unless she accepted his marriage proposal, the gates of heaven would be closed against her forever? I understand he said something similar to at least one other. This just doesn't strike me as being right. If I told any woman that unless she married me, she would be forever barred from the celestial kingdom, I'd expect her to laugh in my face and run the other way.

I know the church is true with all my heart, but I've never been able to come to peace with the subject of polygamy, even though I know it's a true principle. I'm hoping to find some peace on the matter, and I hope I'm not opening a Pandora's box here or spreading discontent. But nobody in the church talks much about this subject and so I've been left to deal with this mostly on my own.

If anybody here has any thoughts on this subject, I'd very much appreciate you sharing them. Thank you.

    Seeker

I'm not sharing my husband :angry2:

    I find it hugely unfair!

I hadn't read any of the other replies.

I am going to though, because I am interested in what some people have to say about it.

I just wanted to voice how much I dislike it.

    That is all.

  8. When you discover the secret to it, let me know too :) I live in a rather small branch of about 120 active members (including children). There have been afew new young couples move in, but i am extremely shy and find it hard making friends. I do try as best i can but i know what you mean, when you try and make those connections, but no one seems interested in whether you're there or not :dontknow:

    Darn right. They still aren't.

Okay.. I am a convert.. and slightly confused.. Could you point me in the direction of that paragraph?? then I will develop 2 cents!

we're talking about the paragraph in 2Nephi 5:21.

although no one has answered my question i mean the general authorities say a lot of things that members of the church dont always fallow or think. My question i will refrase again is if anyone has witnessed anyone think they are somehow favored because of the color of there skin being white? ex. only dating white guys. or having someone say a slight comment that doesnt seem overly prejudice but slightly is. I mean has anyone read about the Book...being Black and mormon, about a BYU professor who had to endure comment from other members who constantly reminded him how he was somehow cursed based on the color of his skin. Not to mention that BYU im not sure if this is true but my understanding is they still teach this in there seminar classes. So i fail to see how there are not members out there who would have slight prejudice favor towards themselves being of a white desend. Just thoughts since i have no doubt there are some members who think like this

You sould like you wont be happy unless there are prejudice people.

You just said you KNEW there had to be cases.

If you really feel that way, why don't you ask:

"How can we encourage people to not apply the curse to people today?"

    Or something to that effect.

  10. Was having a conversation with a friend the other day and mentioned that I was returning to the Church. He's not a member and he asked me about what the church believed etc. Well the conversation eventually got round to the tithe and offerings we give to the church. I told him that we are instructed to give 10% of our income to the church as well as our fast offerings, pointing out that this was the biblical norm. So the first question he asked me is what if you cannot afford to pay a full tithe, will God reject you? I said of course no God wouldn't reject you for this, but it did get me thinking. When you go for a temple recommend you are asked if you have kept the commandments, the Word of Wisdom etc, obviously this includes tithing. Would you get a recomend if you had not paid your full tithe but were paying what you could afford to pay? What happens at the meeting you have with the bishop when you come to give an account of your tithing and you say that you have not paid your full tithe but have given as much as you could afford? I know in an ideal world we all pay our tithes and offerings, but there are people on very low incomes who try their hardest to follow the commandments but who could find it hard to pay their full tithe, and who choose to put food on the table for their family and give what they can afford to. Just wondering if what I had said was true and what the churches position is on such a situation?

A perfect response from what my dad would say:

"He can't afford NOT to pay tithing."

He is a good (in my eyes) member of the church, so I believe that is the churches stance.

  11. I didn't read any of the replies. Infact, I only read the topic heading, so please don't complain to me if I am way off base.

I wont read your complaints anyway.

I am just going to voice what I think on the topic.

Because of the high standards that LDS members live by, there are more things seen in people, like how they spend their sundays, whether they believe they can be happy in Terrestial, whether they drink pepsi.

Because of all of these standards, it is HARD not to notice them, and when they are noticed, the thought "they aren't following ALL of the commandments" and so on pop into our heads.

Because of this, yes... VERY judgmental.

  12. Let me see if I understand. It is okay for religious people to attempt to convert others to what they believe, but it isn't okay if the roles are reversed? Is this what I am hearing as being suggested?

How do they figure that they have any right in attempting to impose on anyone's religious beliefs?

Works for me. I am guessing - in order to be consistant - that you are okay with me raising a secularist and more than likely a future non-believer, right?

There is a difference between making it "too embarassing to believe in God" and spreading a belief in God as a belief.

The way you worded your post seemed not only insulting, but ignorant.
