Thanks for all the replies I was looking forsomething which isn't too heavy Doctrine wise, like before I joined the Church I used to read alot of Philip Yancy and what not. As I'm in the UK I've been told that that is the nearest place to buy lds books. I can buy online but like to have a read through So when the weather gets abit better I'm going to go for a walk round the grounds of the Temple and to the book store, see if I can get over my aversion to going inside the temple too. -
Hi Zil! I totally agree with you theoretically but as I said I think tithing Is something that requires testimony and that starts with faith that you should obay God but your not quite sure why, IMO. As for the temple as I've said on here I have no desire to go.. Might change, might not.. I'm in no rush as I can't be sealed to my beautiful kids.

I've struggled with this tbh.. For a few reasons 1 I'm a part member household so a temple recommend isnt really a top priority. 2, before I was baptised I thought OK 10pc I can do that but then you write the cheque and realise how much that actually is. 3, I don't have enough testimony to think I'm actually going to be blessed so at the minute I'm trying to look at it like an obedience thing like not drinking tea but being able to drink coke. No answers as I'm obviously struggling but thought I would chip in x

Thanks.. I'm mega excited, I have to have an interview Tuesday and pick some hymns. One of my friends is doing a talk, the guy who introduced me to the Church is baptising me and someone has loaned me a temple dress which Is alot better then the alternative. Can anyone recommend any hymns? So far I have thought of: I know that my redeemer lives I need thee Every hour Praise to the man -

I'm really glad you feel that way. I'm not even sure if I want to be endowed in the near future. I will obviously up hold the commandments as best as I can to be worthy of a recommend, I'm sure the holy ghost will tell me when I should go and I don't feel that its going to be a soon thing. This doesn't bother me, my husband isnt in the Church so we or my children can't be sealed and whilst my mum passed away five years ago I would rather wait until I feel comfortable to go. -

Hi, I live about two hours away from one. It's definitely not been mentioned so maybe we don't do this as we are not in the US? Another convert has been in the Church 3 months and she hasn't been either. -

Going to the temple hasnt been mentioned tbh except that once your baptised you have to wait at least a year so I'm guessing that isn't on the cards for me. -
Hi I've been investigating since September, attending Church for over 3 months, my kids attend, I go to RS and have made quite a few friends. I had a bit of a wobble for a couple of weeks and really questioned if I should join the Church and my reasons for doing so. After alot of study and prayer and talking some stuff through I now have a stronger testimony. I'm considering moving my baptism to the end of this month as I just seem to be sat still at this point but I'm not sure if I can or should or if I should leave it till the end of may. Does anyone have any Advice?

There are definitely commandments in the strength of youth book and stuff which if you didn't follow would mean you can't have a temple recommend. I know this as I was given one a couple of months ago by my Gospel Principles teacher at my house. I guess it's easier then discussing the law of chastity before baptism with a 32 year old married mother of two hahaha.

I watched it on YouTube via The Mormon Channel, no delays although it's now nearly midnight in the UK. It was my first time watching it.. It was awesome! I liked these two quotes the best "Satan wants us to think our joy is self delusion. choose to have hearts softened and nourish the seed" "when we are distant from God we want him to solve all ourproblems immediately, when we are close to God we willingly recognise all the blessings he is already given us" I really liked the talk about being sensitive to those kids who's home life isn't the ideal. It resonated with me as my husband is a Buddhist and my kids go to Church. I think it probably has more to do with the recent policy changes for baptism tho.

Thanks everyone! I've decided to go back to basics so to speak.. Make sure I'm reading my scriptures and praying etc. And I feel much better already. x

Thanks for the reply I know you are right about attending Church, it's probably more important I attend not less right now. My parents died when I was a teenager so it's not a trust issue per say, more that I have had to be very independent from an early age. I'm definitely better at helping others then being helped. I think I'm just freaking out abit too.. I mean who complains about people being nice to them? People who want to keep them at arms length to make a good impression? I don't think they get alot of converts. Certainly not ones that stick around anyway, the last active convert before me converted quite a few years ago. everything just seems so alian compared to what I'm used to. Thanks for the fair Mormon website I will have a look.

Hi, I just need some advice as I'm feeling overwhelmed to be honest. As most people know I'm due to be baptised in May, Im looking forward to it, I have attended the Church for over 3 months, I go to RS stuff, I have a firm testimony.. In short the Church makes me happy. I'm struggling with the ward, I just want to be left alone to go to Church with my kids. I really don't like all the friendshipping it's just so false to me, my last Church I was the youngest person by 20 years and I became friends with some of these older ladies over time but I can't even go to the toilet at Church without someone trying to speak to me. I find it exhausting. The Missionaries keep showing up at my home with members too. To me I want to go to Church to worship God, if after time I make friends with people great but all this attention and wanting to do things for me (which I say no to all the time BTW) just makes me want to stop going to Church. I'm 32 I have friends already. Also because of all this attention when I do have genuine problems I don't feel like I have anyone to talk to who is genuine so I end up talking to people on the Internet instead. In example last week was stake conference but no one invited me so I didn't know I was allowed to go as a non Church member. My family has been giving me flek for joining the Church. I got sent loads of Anti stuff over the Internet in a forum and can't get it out my head and my old Church keeps telling me how much they miss I think maybe I should just stop going for a couple of weeks, see if I want to be baptised. I can't even go back to my old Church as I no longer think it's true.

Hi! As everyone knows I am getting baptised in May, I have started to take my Son to Church with me at the moment he attends the Nursery.. anyway I have found out that they are a bit short of cover down there and most people step in at one time and another and that no one has a CRB check. I don't know how that sits with me to be honest, older kids maybe but my son cant speak and he is potty training at the minute. I'm not sure if to speak to the bishop or someone? or to just stay to sacrament till my kids are older or am I just being paranoid as I was raised a Catholic and all this Spotlight stuff has come out recently? Any thoughts? Edit- Obviously I don't believe my son is any immediate danger or anything, just really surprised that there is no background checks or anything.
