  1. see I've lurked here long enough to know that there is some history here between you guys....Are they really Bad apples or are they just a granny smith apples while you are a gala apple?
  2. In the Year of 1985, I came into this world and made the place just a little bit weirder. Anyways, My name is Julie and I'm in the process of converting from Baptist to LDS. A little bit about me: I have Asperger's syndrome - it's on the higher functioning side of the Autism Spectrum, mainly I'm effected mostly in my Social skills but I don't let that hold me back. I'm a Certified Nursing Assistant and praying about going on to becoming a nurse. I'm a middle child of 3 and currently in a stable relationship (for once) with a wonderful man (raised LDS, Returned Missionary - currently Inactive). I have a different perspective on life and a dry sense of humor (so I've been told) MY LDS Journey: One of my best friends converted to LDS around 2007/08 and I've questioned her a bit about beliefs as well as what it means to be member in good standing. I'm pretty sure she started praying that the Heavenly Father work in my life to bring me where I am today. Anyways at the end of 2016 Heavenly Father began speaking to me urging me to follow His leading and investigate the church - on February 5th, 2017 he used the different talks to confirm that I am to join the church. I'm currently meeting with the missionaries who are aware of my desire to take the next step and get baptized.
  3. First off, you are not alone in your struggling, Maybe the struggle is different but we all struggle. 1. Employment - this is a tough one. Take a moment and Breathe - finding a job is stressful. I suggest for right now, Volunteer somewhere to give yourself a mental break - maybe go to a retirement home and offer to visit some of the seniors who are lonely (ask the facility first about policies concerning this). 2. Relationship with Heavenly Father. - That's the wonderful thing about Heavenly Father, His arms are always open and welcoming. I would advise you turn back to him and seek after him. 3. Sexuality - I can't advise much but I can tell you that IF Heavenly Father wants you to remain chaste and single, He will help you through it. I Corinthians 10:13 says "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." - May I suggest that you search about Asexuality - who knows but their could be a nice man out there who does not desire sex. It's possible that maybe this is Heavenly Father's plan for your life. I believe He does call some to live a life of Chasity in this lifetime.
  4. I just realized I forgot to reply - Thank you all for the responses Carborendum, Iggy, and Bytebear - That's exactly what I was looking for, somewhat of an Idea of what to expect. I saw the missionaries on Sunday and they are aware that I'm desiring Baptism. Sacrament on Sunday just confirmed it even more. I love how Heavenly Father leads us.
  5. Laying in bed attempting to sleep before work this evening. I'm also watching/listening to netflix
  6. As long as the mug is frosty - that's all that matters - although i have a Darth Vader mug that will do well
  7. Yes I do, - that's why i was assuming rootbeer. It's why my boyfriend doesn't touch the stuff - he was raised lds, still is but inactive.
  8. Oh well i can't handle drinking a cup of that either and that one my boyfriend won't touch - he doesn't drink ever.
  9. Oh well i can't handle drinking a cup of that either and that one my boyfriend won't touch - he doesn't drink ever.
  10. Three beers? I'm assuming you mean Rootbeer, i can barely finish one, luckly my boyfriend is gracious enough to help me finish - that and the mysterious fairy that likes to finish my drinks only when my boyfriend is around and it's a drink He likes..
  11. The last movie I saw was The Accountant.
  12. It's not easy to date someone with asperger's. My boyfriend has the patience of a saint to put up with mine. For me, while I am classic Asperger's, I need the physical touch and the connection. It's very hard to do things last minute and I need the routine. I'm very high functioning but struggle with social cues quiet a bit. My bf and I struggled untill he realized that I do have special needs and I can't always tell if he is joking or serious. Patience is the key - because making Friends is hard for us, we tend to be loyal to the ones we have.
  13. The more I read and pray seeking the path the Heavenly Father would have me pursue, the more I feel Heavenly Father confirming that He would have me join the church. How do I go about joining the church? I know that there is a baptism but how do I prepare for that? What is involved with the Baptism process?
  14. my favorite would have to be James - in the NT and Ruth in the OT. Ruth is all about leaving the familiar and following the Heavenly Father's leading and James is basically instructions for living righteously.
  15. It really is, one of my favorite passages is Isaiah 43:2-7
  16. I minored in Bible in college - I took a course on Isaiah so I might be okay.
  17. Thanks the chronological order thing was part of the reason why I asked.
  18. So another question came to mind. The missionaries came today and gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon. I would like to begin reading it but was wondering if it's best to read front to back or if there is a certain order that will help give me a better understanding?
  19. Well Smith is a pretty common last name. Joseph and Emma are common first names so I'm thinking it's a good chance that it's not an urban lesson.
  20. You know I just realized how my username could be taken - It's actually my first initial and last name, year of birth. I've been asking some questions enough to know I need to seriously pursue what the Heavenly Father would have me do. I actually have the missionary's coming tomorrow to speak with me. Thank you so much
  21. Thank you, I did do that for last Sunday. The meetinghouse has three different wards meeting there and they rotate the times and it wasn't updated since they just rotated times. Thank you though as I did miss seeing the bishop's name
  22. So recently I've had some LDS members, current and inactive both, come into my life. I was raised Baptist myself but I'm beginning to feel that the Heavenly Father maybe leading me to investigate the LDS church. I did go to a service last Sunday and I'm curious how to go about discovering if this is the Path the Heavenly Father would have me take. I ended up going to the wrong ward for where I will be living in February and I have no idea where to start. Please help.
