  1. What's awesome is that this same organization as the Primitive Church includes the fact that Christ the Messiah is at the Head.
  2. Thanks! I was looking in the wrong section. Now to find the lesson guide for Priesthood, In my old ward they handed out the little book form of what I was linked, but I didn't get one for this year (I wasn't home) and never asked for one :X
  3. I think he was agreeing with "Cultural expectations do not always honour others"
  4. I know there's usually a sheet passed around or something, but I don't have one. Does anyone know where I can find the list of the chapters that are supposed to be taught each week? We just did Alma 30-31, and I need to know what's for next week (and the next) [and the next]. I'm basing my scripture study off of this, so I'm prepared on Sunday and I have some guidance towards study. But, alas, I know not which chapters are to be read for the coming week.
  5. I don't deserve anything that He's given me. That's the point. He does it anyway. Sorry for not responding to all these posts. I am reading them, and I'm not just thinking of counter-arguments to them all. I appreciate the efforts and advice. It's hard to see beyond the trend of things getting worse and worse each time they happen. Meds take effect, I go into an "up cycle" but then it heads down hill and I always seem to get closer to the edge each time before it picks up again. I'm just afraid one of these times it'll be too close.
  6. Way better than #1!!! PS, if anyone notices that I reply to most posts in this thread, it's only cause it's about all I can focus on right now, lol. Not trying to be argumentative,

  8. #2) You don't think it's close to R? Well, maybe not these days, but I think it qualifies with strong violence and scariness. Sure... Maybe most people are so jaded by everything they see that it's "not that bad" for them, but I think this discussion has taken place in the "Rated R" discussion thread already. Side note: Bale did the same thing in Batman Begins. Remember when he was holding the one cop upside down?
  9. Ah, the problem with all those good things is that I don't deserve them and I feel like crap for having them
  10. Wow, JC. Can you at least clarify what you mean by "psych babble" and "the message" And then how the movie is crap? Cuz, really, pretty much the world has the opposite opinion so I'd like to hear the other side of the coin!
  11. I've heard plenty about Joseph Smith, read the scrutiny. Heard what people have to say. And, well, it was always a non-issue for me. Sorry about your problem, I wish I could understand better and offer some advice.
  12. But people can believe that God slew the firstborn children of Egypt?
  13. I've talked to several UKers that use "mate" And I'm prone to using it on occasion, myself. Variety!
  14. I've heard this so many times in the past several years. Every time I go through a difficult time... People tell me: "It'll be okay." "It'll all work out." "This'll go away." Well, when? God won't give me more than I can endure, but He's cutting it close.
  15. The major difference is that the other creeds are man-made, and the AoF are inspired Articles given by a prophet of God based on the (direct) teachings of Christ Himself.
  16. In Iowa the only reason I knew the Church was involved was because well after it happened I decided to look it up and see how much we helped out...
  17. Transgression gives us the capacity to feel guilt.
  18. However that rule isn't always enforced. One of my guy friends taught a primary class (Age 9 I think), and that was just by himself. And he's not the only one I know that teaches by themselves. I think... just nursery back home had more than one teacher.
  19. I believe Our Heritage is now part of the 4 required books that LDS missionaries are to own. As is Our Search for Happiness. You can get it from ldscatalog.com for $2.40 and with free shipping. You can get OSH used pretty cheap, or it's $8.95 no shipping. You can get the entire Missionary Reference Library for $12. "This four-volume set includes Our Search for Happiness by Elder M. Russell Ballard, Jesus the Christ by Elder James E. Talmage, True to the Faith, and Our Heritage."
  20. Sorry, didn't mean to nitpick, I was just confused.
  21. I wasn't trying to change the meaning. You can't go to one dictionary and try to get all the nuances of a single word. The nuance of polytheism implies you worship multiple gods. Yes, you believe in multiple, but it has the connotation of worshiping them all. Henotheism is more accurate, because it clarifies that only one is worshiped.
  22. I own this book, that I bought not too long after my baptism. It's got a little bit of everything. Amazon.com: Missionary's Little Book of Answers: Gilbert W. Scharffs: Books
  23. Main Entry:poly·the·ism Pronunciation: \ˈpä-lē-(ˌ)thē-ˌi-zəm\ Function:noun Etymology:French polytheisme, from Late Greek polytheos polytheistic, from Greek, of many gods, from poly- + theos godDate:1613 : belief in or worship of more than one god
