  1. Oldest instance, that I'm aware of, of being taught not to "do things" to the body, is not a reference to "piercings," but close: Lev. 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.
  2. I'm the same way. I think of it as a righteous fury, in some cases. It's a love of my faith and my Savior. I am a warrior for God, and when they bring out the fighting words it makes my spirit battle ready! I stood strong against Satan in one estate, and I will surely do the same in this.
  3. AFAIK, amongst other things, these garments are also physical reminders of the covenants the wearers have made.
  4. I also thing "O' Babylon, O' Babylon, we bid thee farewell. We're going to the mountains of Ephraim to dwell."
  5. Actually, that was a First Presidency message read by every Bishop and Branch President in the Church, AFAIK.
  6. I've been very stressed out and anxious these past couple days. I can barely eat. After I'm awake for about 6 hours I get to a painful hungry and I can have a very small snack... I've tried having supper the last two nights, but they didn't stay down more than a couple hours. My stomach is too uneasy from stress and really doesn't want anything. I have head aches a lot, and a lot of muscle tenseness. Been on the verge of tears on and off for the past couple days, too. Frankly, I don't know how to relax. Whenever I start to just chill out I feel like I'm going to just have a breakdown. If I can manage to make it to the local county Psych place for a stupid inventory thing, it'll be 9 weeks from then until an appointment. I've felt more like SI than I have in a year. I don't know what to do. Do I ask the EQ Presidency to find out who my home teachers are? I know it's stupid, but I don't feel like I'm worth a blessing... which means I should probably have one set up. What's really frustrating is that all this is what I've applied for disability for, but it's not enough for them, as they denied my reconsideration, which means I have to go through a more stressful 2nd appeal. I don't see it getting any better. I'm living "on my own" right now. My parents aren't obligated to help me, but my government should be... Any advice on any of this... please feel free.

  8. Haha... I tried that, and look where I am now.
  9. Okay, I honestly don't mean this to be geared at any one or two individuals. I have noticed a trend that I frankly do not like, and I'm sure many bystanders do not either. When you have a problem with what another user said, and you think it violates one of the rules, do not respond to it. Instead, report the post, if it truly bothers you. However, do not use this feature any time you're offended. Double-check the rules, here: Terms & Conditions ยป LDS Mormon Network If you think it violates one, THEN report it. If you're merely offended by something somebody said, and don't think it should have been, but doesn't quite break a rule, then please take it to a private message. This way you can address your grievances to the individual you feel you have a problem with. But, remember, private messages can be monitored, and reported, just like normal posts. It's not an excuse to be rude or rule-breaking in return. The aim of this is to keep a "contentious air" from entering the forums. I recognize people don't always agree, and sometimes things are misconstrued, or simply rude, but as the old saying goes: if "they started it" then "you should finish it."
  10. There are some antis who hide as wolves in sheep's clothing, and HAVE read tho BoM and actually quote it to back up their own non-doctrinal viewpoints, trying to prove us wrong or whatever. These are people who have never even been in the Church, and don't desire to be. But, lucky us, we have modern prophets who guide us to the CORRECT interpretation.
  11. As I recall, it shall be made up of many churches and "churches." And the many waters thing, I think has a couple meanings. One, it shows that the church of Babylon shall be everywhere. "Many waters" means "Many places." IMO But water has important symbolism. Blood, baptism, water of life. So the church of Babylon will sit upon many FALSE practices, ordinances... Those proclaiming to be the true church. Or just ordinances completely outside of true doctrine. Sins will be taught as things that lead to God. In other words, lies will be proclaimed and believed. This is strictly my opinion. I've not been taught anything specific on the subject. The Church of the Lamb refers to all the believers in Christ. Those who follow Him shall be persecuted. Personally, I don't think this includes JUST LDS people, but those who actually obey His commandments and try to be like Him. It does say they will be FEW in number. Right now we have something like 1 BILLION "proclaimed" Christians, and I just don't think most of them "truly" are.
  12. Because, my friend, history will repeat itself, as prophesied.
  13. Every time I hear "Babylon" I always think of this verse: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
  14. Well... I believe a prophet once declared it the best to use, or something similar. But if you REALLY want to know about and get closer to Christ, you could just read the Book of Mormon. Hard to go wrong there.
  15. At Institute today (Institute of Religion is part of the Church Educational System. It's a free Gospel study program for post-High School Adults) we had a great lesson on Leviticus. After reading about the Pentecost sacrifices, we watched a video. A man traveled in time (corny) to his past, and took his young self to the Sinai wilderness. He was teaching him about the importance of the Sacrament. He had his young self pick out a goat. It had to be a male, and spotless, just like the Lord. Then they took it to the Tabernacle, where the lamb was dedicated as on offering to the Lord, instead of the young man. The lamb was to die for his sins, in similitude of the sacrifice of the Savior. The lamb being a Type of Christ. Then the older self told the younger self that he had to kill the lamb. The boy remarked, "Why do I have to kill him? He didn't do anything wrong." Man says, "Neither did the Savior." Thinking about it again brings tears to my eyes. I never thought about it just like that. I'm so thankful for the Savior, I love Him so much. He didn't do anything wrong. The Law of Sacrifice was made full by the Sacrifice of Christ. We no longer have to sacrifice lambs in our stead. But now we must sacrifice a broken heart, and contrite spirit. So I made a connection tonight, which may step outside the boundaries of traditional Christian beliefs, I don't know. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart We no longer offer up a lamb, for the LORD is the Lamb. But we still offer sacrifice, which is that of the the broken spirit and contrite heart. So we offer these sacrifices up... in similitude of and as a Type of Christ. When we, Christians, do as the LORD commands, and obey in humility... We become Types of Christ. It not only lets us be cleansed, renewed, and saved, but it makes us more like Him. I wanted to share the tear-jerker (for me) and then the "Scripture Chain" that I found.
  16. Adam-ondi-Ahman Michael is such an amazing person. To know he'd be coming to that spot... Just awesome. I would love to visit the Sacred Grove, as well. And, perhaps most of all, Gethsemane.
  17. Hey, look at this post! To add to it, I've heard of people who have Patriarchal Blessings that mention them seeing beyond the veil.
  18. If you want an amusing, and possibly sacrilegious Bible... Main Page - LOLCat Bible Translation Project >_>
  19. I don't have any of my pictures uploaded anywhere... But it's definitely Nauvoo. It's the only temple I've been IN, though, so I'm probably biased. But I love the simple structure, but the nice details. It's very solid, standing strong in wait of the LORD. And when you sing in the small chapel off of the font room? Glorious.
  20. If you don't see them fit to do their duty as called of God, or don't believe they are, simply don't sustain them.
  21. And this topic isn't about whether or not discussion about them should be allowed. Chances are if you haven't seen a disrespectful post about them then the Mods have been doing their job. Anyone else besides SunS have an answer?
  22. When I set the AC, I only set it to 78/79, but I have fans on (2, max.) I think that saves some elec... The fans keep it cooler so the air doesn't kick on as often. Also, I draw all the blinds and such, and turn the lights off. It keeps the sun and heat out, which keeps it cooler. My roommate turns off the computer all the time, monitor, too. He's lucky I don't kick him... >_>
