  1. You're right, it is not cheap. Of course, why, is the question. It is not cheap because it is mired in lawsuits / regulations that don't allow new plants to be built and greatly hamper the potentials of the ones we do have. I'm for regulation of nuclear plants. I'm not for the insane litigation one must go through to even begin to have a chance to build one. Especially when the litigation is almost always without merit.
  2. I thought America was the most productive nation on Earth? Maybe that's a myth.
  3. 1) There is currently no viable alternative to fossil fuels, and absolutely none as cost friendly / safe as commercial nuclear power. 2) Oil is part of the commodities market, and it is manipulated like any other. 3) Remember the mining towns where the mine operators would pay people in "tokens" from the mining company to be used at the company owned stores? Well, the Federal Reserve Note is the same thing, on a massive scale. You do know that you DO NOT own the Federal Reserve Notes in your wallet / purse / bank-accounts?
  4. Good questions. I don't know. I only know that we do export oil (which would appear to be absurd, given the current climate in the US for oil).
  5. You are right. It is just another prime example that politicians are alligned with our destruction as a nation. We will become the only nation in history to fall while sitting on a nearly endless supply of natural resources. Very Sad.
  6. I think increased trade with Canada is a win-win. They have a ton of oil that would be easy to get at. We have a lot of our own, but a bit more difficult to get to. As for development of "green" sources of energy, I'll point to Commercial Nuclear Power as the solution for electrical generation in the United States. Nuclear Power has proven itself as the safest form of energy ever produced in the United States. No person has ever died as a result of a nuclear accident at a commercial nuclear power plant. Thanks.
  7. The United States produces approximately 8.4Million Barrels of oil a day. We use nearly 21Million Barrels of oil a day. We EXPORT (Yup, I said EXPORT) approximately 1.1Million Barrels of oil a day. That leaves approximately 7.3Million Barrels a day, of our own oil, to use. So we export 13% of our daily oil production, which equates to .5% of our total daily usage. Our leading foreign source of oil is Canada (2.6Million Barrels a day), followed by Saudi Arabia (1.5Million Barrels a day), followed by Mexico (1.4Million Barrels a day), and so on. We import 13Million Barrels a day, of oil. That is about 62% of the oil we use each day. Considering we EXPORT 1.1Million Barrels of oil a DAY, we could reduce our dependence on imports by nearly 8% a day, but just stopping our exports. That's right. We could reduce our reliance on foreign oil by nearly 10%, IMMEDIATELY, by stopping the export of US oil. If we take Canada and Mexico out of the equation (they've been generally friendly allies), then we're left with 9Million Barrels a day of oil from nations that are historically unfriendly with America (except for wanting our money). Now, again, if we immediately stopped exporting our oil, we'd only need to import 7.9Million Barrels a day from our enemies (for lack of a better term). That would be a decrease in current importation of 12%, with no need to drill for more oil. Simply put, our politicians / eco-extremists / alarmists are wrong. From public figures, we can actually "drill ourselves" out of this mess. Here's how: 1) Stop exporting our oil (1.1Million Barrels a day) 2) Drill now for our 40Billion Barrels of known oil (Standard sources, not shale or coal oils which would put us ahead of most, if not all nations in the world for total oil reserves) So, we can immediately reduce our reliance on our enemies for oil by over 10%. And, we CAN drill ourselves out of all reliance on foreign oil. What do you think?
  8. To the Lord's of Fiat (Paper Currency) the collapse is intentional and inevitable. What is dangerous for them is the inevitability is not fully predictable, and they can be destroyed in the ensuing crisis that it creates. The game plays think they can forestall the inevitable while becoming immensely wealthy. However, inevitable it is. Paper currency, fiat, will ALWAYS collapse. It will cause anarchy and despotism like Hitler and Stalin, and the worst of all Mao. We must return to real, sound, money, as mandated by our divinely inspired Constitution or we are doomed. Period. There is no other way.
  9. As of today, the Standard & Poor 500 is worth an ounce (that's ONE ounce, folks!) of Gold. Wow!
  10. Two months now and this thread is dead. We must have real money if we are to resolve the current fiscal crisis we are facing. To have real money, we must know what real money is. Isn't that the issue?
  11. You should read, if you haven't already, "MONEY: Ye shall have honest weights and measures". Simply the best treatise on the subject that's been written, and I've probably read them all. Simply put, as I stated in my thread entitled "MONEY", money has four main elements: 1) Intrinsic value 2) Relatively scarce 3) Relatively durable 4) Easily divisable A fifth element may be; money is anonymous. You are right on! If you want to really know what is going on in our economy, you must know what money is.
  12. God doesn't have an opinion. Everything he says is factual. Men have opinions. I don't follow all of them, especially not those solicited from the Larry King Live show... Now, if Pres. Hinckley had said something to that effect from the "pulpit" then I'd give pause...
  13. That was the day I drank it even more. Opinion, no matter the source, is not what we need to follow.
  14. Why drink Coca Cola, when you can enjoy the many flavors of Dr. Pepper, which is what God drinks...
  15. Interesting. I used to think that "checks and balances" were part of the Constitution. Then I actually read the darn thing, and voila, was I surprised! Actually, there are no "checks and balances" in the full sense, in the Constitution. By this I mean that there are no checks on Congress in the Constitution (other than the principle of enumerative powers, which is logically implied but not mandated by the text). Congress checks the other branches of government in a complete and total sense by the following: 1) Executive a) Congress can impeach the President and remove him from office. b) Congress can de-fund the Executive branch. 2) Judicial a) Congress can impeach the Supreme Court. b) Congress can completely limit the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court Neither the Executive, nor the Judicial has the power to remove any Member of Congress or stop the activities of Congress. Therefore, though there are checks on the Executive and the Judicial by Congress in the Constitution, there is not a "checks and balances" in the Constitution. What think you?
  16. In the spirit of trying to prepare myself, and the people I care about (friends, family, the Church) to fulfill the prophetic call of Joseph Smith to save our Constitution, I thought it might be instructive to see what we know or don't know about the Constitution. As instruction, I offer the following points, which I'd like forum members to respond to as being part of the Constitution, or not. 1) Federally funded public education. 2) Federal Reserve System. 3) Balance of Power (Checks and Balances). 4) Citizen detention without trial. 5) Slavery. 6) Paper currency.
  17. It amazes me how Elder - then - President Benson could be so wrong about his world paradigm. How could he be an Apostle of the Lord, then the Prophet, with such insane notions as there being an international conspiracy to enslave mankind? How could he spend his entire life spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the essential included theme of individual liberty? How could he defend the Constitution? How could he do such things and still be called an Apostle and them Prophet? I look forward to his turn as the subject of "Teaching of the Prophets" Elder's Quorom / Relief Society manual so that his overwhelming love and devotion to America and her Constitution can be expunged from his life story / teachings. The above statements are sarcasm... Friends, how can we ignore the statements of so many Apostles and Prophets regarding individual liberty and our Constitution? How can we vote for people or align ourselves with groups / parties that do not support the Constitution of the United States as mandated in the Doctrine and Covenants? How can we ignore these things? How can we presume to think that we will rise up and save the Constitution from destruction when we, as a people in general, haven't a clue as to what it says? I'm stumped. Somebody help!
  18. "The problem with equality is that no one wishes to be equal to his inferior." -George Washington
  19. Though the attacks on our freedoms predate 1958, the John Birch Society has been sounding the alarm for over 50 years. It is only during these current times that I'm beginning to see people wake up to the reality of our "awful situation". So sad. It may indeed be to late.
  20. "Thank you, thankyou, thnkuvrymch..." -Elvis Presley "It's not about who's right or wrong, it's about who's left!" -Ed Parker "Hey, Boo-Boo, look at dee pic-i-nic bas-KET!" -Yogi "Gee, Yogi, what are we gonna do now?" -Bobboo "I come to you with only Karate, empty hands, I have no weapons, but should I be forced to defend myself, my principles or my honor, should it be a matter of life or death, of right or wrong; then here are my weapons, Karate, my empty hands." -Ed Parker "Now the Nephites were taught to defend themselves against their enemies, even to the shedding of blood if it were necessary; yea, and they were also taught never to give an offense, yea, and never to raise the sword except it were against an enemy, except it were to preserve their lives." -Alma 48:14
  21. The question, really, is, what is "law"? Define "law", and you'll get the answer.
  22. The interesting part of this prophecy, to me, has not been that the Constitution would "hang by a thread". Rather, it is that we, the Priesthood, would save it from ultimate destruction. I must say that it is a gigantic leap of faith on my part to believe that LDS people will save the Constitution. Most have essentially no knowledge of what it even says. How therefore are we to save it? There are so many things happening that are not constitutional in this nation of ours. We are nearly overwhelmed by them. In fact, I can't think of any recent Federal Government action that has been Constitutional. Can you?
  23. This is why I started the thread on the Gold Standard.
