  1. I propose an Erector Set project, to motorize a Fidget Spinner.
  2. Who really cares that groups form and would like a space to meet? Apparently it isn't only liberals who get triggered? ?
  3. "The term is often used to criticize economic policies which favor the wealthy or privileged, while being framed as good for the average citizen." I completely agree, there is no such thing.
  4. I'm not defending the madness. Only explaining how I read the article. i was thinking on the drive home that Julia Childs culturally appropriated the French.
  5. Cultural appropriation, as I understand it, is a complaint that white people exploit non-white cultures for monetary gain. If the women had invited the people who they stole their recipes from, to partner with them, thus joining in the venture and reaping the profits, there would be no complaint. The women in the OP story were not experimenting and making their own recipes. They outright stole existing recipes and cooking techniques and then opened a restaurant. It would be like me, learning the recipe of my neighbors carefully developed bbq sauce and then secretly opening a restaurant with her sauce as the thing that earns me money, without her consent.
  6. Trickle down economics hasn't been proven to be effective in eradicating poverty.
  7. Dang, let it out. Both Republicans and Democrats have never provided a solution for chronic, intergenerational poverty, anywhere.
  8. Gosh, I read the OP story as, two women stole recipes and techniques from little old grandmas in Mexico and used them without permission, or reimbursement to the grandmas, to make money in Oregon. I never read that the two women shouldn't enjoy baking Mexican food for personal enjoyment. It's the exploiting others, for personal gain, that is the Big Deal.
  9. Because Jesus is God.
  10. "I'd be a richer man today if it weren't for physics If I could levitate I'd sell lots of tickets And maybe do an interview with Larry King While floating"
  11. The one and only thing I know about astral projection, is that it has something to do with an interdimensional outer space being, named Mo-Dean.
  12. Don't try to rob anyone! Take a gun safety course. Even though you don't own or carry, it is useful. For one you'll be able to recognize dumb dumbs that are best to avoid. Or even report to police. For example, once at a crowded public place we were hanging out at, a group of dumb dumbs were shooting pistols. The one and only time I called the police when someone was out shooting for fun, was for these dorks.
  13. It's regional, and in large cities, gun carrying is weird to see and most likely illegal. The northwest border against Canada, is gun carrying territory. When I was a kid, during the deer hunting season everyone had their rifles proudly resting in the visible gun racks inside of their pickup truck cab. In high school, kids would bring their rifles to school in this way, in order to leave straight from school to go into the foothills to hunt for a few hours before dark. That doesn't fly today. School admins and parents would have SWAT called in.
  14. It is assumed by most Americans, who don't live in a crime-ridden large city, that people who carry firearms are responsible adults who don't go around shooting people in anger. The same as assuming, that most people who drive aren't going to use their car to purposefully run over dozens of pedestrians. In other words, your fear is irrational.
  15. The current political party system was not the political party system of the 19th century. To begin with, the issues and political/social ideologies that divided the parties are not aligned to the same issues and political/social ideologies that divide the party system of today, and the geographic disbursement of party loyalists has flipped. People, parties and factions within the parties change, sometimes very dramatically, over time, which in turn changes the parties themselves. One most notable is the political party "Big Switch" of the Southern United States. The Southern US votes, generally, as a single (powerful) bloc. Of course there are factions within, areas and individuals, that are not in the general bloc vote, but the bloc itself is very real. In the late 19th century, the Republican Party was a new political party, arising after the demise of the Whigs. The Southern States were already a voting block of Democrats. History moves along, and in response to the Civil Rights Movement and associated legislation, the South, as an entire general bloc, switches from voting Democrat to Republican. The effect over time, of the ever changing parties and electorates, is that the Democrats used to be the party of the rural South, and now it is the Republicans. This itself has had an effect, of a Southernization of,the Republican Party and an urbanization of the Democratic Party. Totally flipped, when compared to Lincoln's time. But! We may be living in a radical new realignment of urban party loyalty and affiliation...only time will tell.

  19. If you mean an iPod classic....my experience with these is the hard drive dies before the battery. The battery is replaceable, for a price. Use itunes to backup and manage iPod libraries. Free for PCs and Macs. ipod touch is a nice replacement
  20. What is an important holy day and how do you celebrate it? Any particular food or dress associated? How do children learn your faith? How are births celebrated? How are deaths mourned? Any questions for us?
  21. I know two who are not LDS who participate actively in the LDS Church. Both do so because their spouses are LDS. Likewise for Catholics, people participate and sometimes people assume they are Catholic and shocked to find out they are not. I would caution however, if your intent is to find a good Mormon to marry, such a prospect is going to come with an expectation of a Mormon temple marriage. "Hanging out" without full participation, a Mormon testimony and true belief, will not be attractive to a Mormon woman who is looking for an eternal companion.
  22. It appears to me you're full of yourself.
  23. Mormons are weird! Sorry, that's all I can say to viewing friendship as akin to helping a stranger with disaster relief.
  24. Sorry, it's seen as out of duty, because there is no interest in friendship, at all, until duty calls. Your own example, shows that you did not seek friendship until you were assigned to do so.
