  1. Anyone interested in Icelandic, the culture, or of Icelandic heritage?
  2. I couldn't find any about that. But here's some biblical references to the temple in jerusalem; Word Search: temple jerusalem I know that's not what you're asking for ofcourse, but still, who doesn't want to read some related scripture? Traveler could you perhaps specific chapters/verses? :)
  3. I agree with that. But I do think that the Bible itself even encourages vegetarianism.
  4. Is that a joke? No offence if it is not. They pick them based on chance?
  5. Awesome! Are you going vegan, or just vegetarian?
  6. I found it, and added it to the videos section: Videos » LDS Mormon Network -phew- That took a while.
  7. The Word of Wisdom was being discussed by me and a few others in the chat sometime earlier, I and I assume some others, were a little confused about it's details. I think I've found something which helps to sum it up. The revelation given to the Prophet Joseph Smith uses the following words to define and advise against the use of harmful substances and beverages: "Strong drinks (meaning alcoholic or other harmful beverages) are not for the belly." (Doctrine and Covenants 89:7) "Tobacco is not for the body...and is not good for man." (Doctrine and Covenants 89:8) "Hot drinks [meaning black tea and coffee] are not for the body." (Doctrine and Covenants 89:9) The Word of Wisdom not only admonishes against the use of harmful substances, but it also describes those foods which are good for man: "All wholesome herbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man— "Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; "Flesh … of beasts and of the fowls of the air...are to be used sparingly; "All grain is ordained for the use of man...to be the staff of life... "All grain is good for the food of man; as also the fruit of the vine." (Doctrine and Covenants 89:10–12, 14, 16) The Word of Wisdom is a law and a principle with promise. When men and women obey the provisions of the law, they receive the blessings associated with those provisions. However, if they do not obey, there will be both temporal and spiritual consequences. 8. Why cant people just repent themselves, on their knees, in prayer to Heavenly Father?
  9. Interesting points, and I know this is off-topic to some extent, but the Muslims who attack people and bomb buildings, aren't fundimental, they're semantic and interpreting the Qur'an to support their own conclusions.
  10. Commonly, Orthodox Christianity seem to use the Book of Mormons charge to it's readers to seek a burning in the bosom as an evidence for its earthly[man-made] creation. But, ... isn't seeking a Burning in the Bosom, just seeking the Holy Ghost?
  11. To me that would make sense, just like humans having free-will, yeah? The earth wasnt created as a robot - maybe that sums it up.
  12. I remember watching a video in which Gordon B. Hinckley was talking about other Mormon sects who are described as a Fundimentalist Mormon, and he was saying that "it is a contradiction" -- originally I thought he was saying there is no such thing as a Fundimental Latter-day Saint, but I was thinking about it last night, and I thought, was he actually saying that it is a contradiction to call something fundimental above a fundimental church? By that I mean, people saying that there are more "fundimental" Mormon churches ... does that make sense?
  13. Ok, well for now I guess I will just chat with you people. :) I've been listening to the Book of Mormon, I downloaded some of the files from LDS.org
  14. I am not a meber of the LDS church, but have been interested in joining for sometime. I bought a Book of Mormon from the supply center on lds.org.au [in my case], and im still waiting for that. I've filled out a form on mormon.org to have missionaries contact me, and they still haven't ... I'm just wondering how long they will take? I'd just "turn up" at my local church, but, I don't know ... it just seems a bit, out there, just turning up ... i dont know. Can anyone offer advice? If that made any sense?...
  15. I think that, since mormon.org has it's own little chat room that Hinckley must have been referring to not making or forming initimate relationships over the 'net, and to not use it in a totally wrong way...
