Heckya Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 I went to church a few months ago after being away for a long time. I attended Sunday School, then Relief Society. I really enjoyed Relief Society, but found myself completely lost in Sunday School. Are there other classes instead of Sunday School? I really need a beginner course. Thanks. Quote
skalenfehl Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 See if Gospel Essentials class is taught in your ward. It is an alternative to Gospel Doctrine. Quote
utcowboy Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 You can always goto or mail order a lesson manual from church distribution or your local ward library. That might help understand the flow of the discusion. Quote
Iggy Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 Heckya, go to this web site: Home click on the words Gospel Doctrine Class to the right, and catch up on all of the lessons. I discovered this site nearly 8 years ago. If it wasn't for Bro Beardall, I never would have learned the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine & Covenents. (I was 1st Councilor in Primary those years)I am downloading his lessons now and keeping them on my computer. He is such a wonderful teacher. His web site has grown by leaps and bounds too.Hey, it is good to see you back on the forum too! Quote
Heckya Posted June 21, 2008 Author Report Posted June 21, 2008 Thanks for the tips and the welcome back. I've been with no internet for a few months. It really puts life at a stand still. Quote
Moksha Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 When I first started going to Church the Gospel Essentials class was invaluable. Fortunately, the teacher put up will all my questions ranging from Mormon cosmology to organizational structure. The teacher was a lawyer who had a fairly keen understanding of what is and what is not Church doctrine (that can be a real bugaboo - lay 100 average Mormons end to end and you still cannot reach a conclusion). Good luck. Quote
