I posted this on the Gospel Forum....but I guess I better post it here too :)

I just received this from Strawberry Fields....and she asked me to share it with all who would like to know how Nick is doing......

--------------------------------------------

Last night at Nick's bath time ( in bed) a male nurse said loudly "Nick open your eyes! " Nick Opened his eyes!

"Nick give me a thumbs up!" "Nick give me a thumbs up!" HE DID!

"Nick show me two fingers!" HE DID!

"Nick wiggle your toes!" HE KICKED AT HIM!

We are so happy that he has made this great step! We know that this happens in baby steps and sometimes there can be divits in the road but we will take this as a good day and run with it. We are praying that he continues to improve and we thank you for all of your prayers and support.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I know that we will all keep Nick and SF in our prayers....one thing I know is that the power of prayer is an awesome force..... This is GREAT news!

I had to share it as soon as I could.

He was in a very serious accident at work this past weekend, and needed emergency surgery . . . they weren't sure if he would live at first, but according to lindy's update, sounds like he's pulling through! :)

I missed something. What was the problem with him in the first place?

Hmmmm Setheus,

I pm'd you to ask for a special prayer for Nick....I guess you missed it. Must of have gotten lost in cyber space somewhere.

I pm'd several priesthood holders and asked for prayers for Nick. I was getting ahold of anyone I could think of to help with prayer. I know that no matter the extent of his injuries.... he beat the odds by making it thru the first day.

He was in a very serious accident at work and still needs all the prayers we can muster up.

I figured that you know the power of a good prayer and could help the cause. :)

I didn't feel that it was my right to discuss anything more about his accident on a public board... for those who wish to know what happened- Strawberry F put a post in the Gospel Discussn. Board. That should answer most questions.

You have such a good heart Lindy.

Most of the people here don't know many details about Nick’s accident.

Last Sat. Nick was at work and he had a tire that exploded in his face and then continued up 12 feet to break lights and then destroy a heater. He was life flighted to the hospital and was not expected to live through surgery. Just yesterday we had a visit from two ER nurses who told us that the reason why he were able to stay with Nick before he went into surgery is because they felt that that time would be our good bye to him. Every bone in his face is broken and they have replaced part of his frontal skull with a mesh wire plate. He will go in to have his face bones repaired on Tues and go through all of the swelling a pain again. Although I miss communicating with him terribly I think that it is a blessing that he has been in a coma since the accident. They have been giving him a lighter sedative over the last couple of days and we have been able to communicate with him to some degree. The out pouring of support and prayers is what is substaining us right now and we feel less then worthy to receive so much.

We have witnessed so many MIRACLES over this past week I can't even begin to tell you right now (Too Tired)

Liahongirl and Others,

Thank you so much for your prayers, Our strength as a family is coming directly from these prayers and support . For Nick I believe that it is these prayers and faith that are forming this MIRACLE of his slow but continueing progress. My daughter will turn 15 on the 18th and all she wanys is for Nick to open his eyes and look at her. He is not out of the woods yet and until he really wakes up we will not know the extent of damage to his brain. He will be going into surgery on Tues to have his face reconstructed.

Nick is such a kind and gentle boy who is always looking out for another person. He will be a senior in high school in just a few months. Everyone that has heard about this who even casually know him is hurting. As his parents it is amazing to hear about the lives that he has touch for the better. His spirit is strong and when I stand next to him even though he is still in a coma I feel very minuit in comparission.

Thanks Again, SF

It's been about two weeks since I last gave you an up date on Nick's progress.

He is doing so well that he is astounding all of the doctors and therapists. About a week ago he was moved out of the ICU into the rehab program. In rehab they have been pushing him really hard. Sometimes he has as many as 7 classes a day. Nick has youth and strength working in his favor he has almost all of his wires for monitors and tubes out of him. He still has his feeding tube that goes right into his stomach because his mouth needed to wired shut to support the work done to is face. Every bone in Nicks face had been crushed except for his lower jaw and they are using that to stabilize the plates they used to rebuild his face. On the outside Nick only has a few fading scars and his hair is growing back. Nick can walk now without support and he is working on his balance and endurance in PT. He is able to talk to us since they have put a button on his trake and his memory is quite good and is improving all of the time.

They is no doubt that Nick being alive today is a REAL MIRACLE. I have had several people including doctors tell me that it is a MIRACLE. About 4 days after the accident the head nurse in charge of Nick from the ER found us in the ICU waiting room and told us that the reason why he allowed our family into the ER room before is surgery is that he felt he should allow us to see him before surgery because he wouldn't make it through it. We have not discussed a lot with Nick about the accident and we have been told that when he is ready he will ask the questions. What he does know is that he was in an accident and it happened at work. Nick will still need more surgery on his face to build upon the work that has been done but to have him with us and to be able to feel his strength is such a blessing I just can't tell you. Nick smiles and he laughs even though his mouth is wired shut and being around him makes us feel good. He still has along ways to go but he is up for the fight....He is Amazing!

I was drawn to tries of gratefulness when reading you’re up date about Nick

I truly believe that we as a board have a power of healing prayer on our side.

If you look back and ponder how many times we have joined in a prayer request and then seen them answered.

Several times I have asked and received.

My sister being given six months to live from stage three ovarian cancer. Her last scan shows her cancer free.

I am grateful and ever mindful of heavily fathers hand in all things.

I dropped every thing two weeks ago at work and took off for Winnipeg to care for a little boy born to a young couple we know. We meet the father when he was on his mission in Nova Scotia, he is now a dental student at U of W. we are the closest thing to parents to them. Their parents are way out west and could not get to them as fast as we could.

Their second baby boy Nathan was born at six months.

What a dear little angle he is. His hand’s are no bigger then a penny.

It was a honor to walk in to his mothers room still recovering from the birth and kiss her sleepy head and say “its Ok sweat hart sleep we have Daniel you rest” The father wrapped his arms around me and like a child from her bed side and he laid his head on my chest and hang on to me. Nathan is still hanging in there.

That is what being members of the church really is.

The Lords work is our business.
