Traveler Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 From time to time, as I study scripture there are certain phrases that seem to jump out at me. Recently I have been touched by the phrase “The Wrath of G-d” or “G-d’s Wrath”. I have come to believe that nothing evil (bad) comes from G-d. With this in mind what are some opinions as to the meaning of “The Wrath of G-d”? While you are thinking about responding – include your opinion concerning that G-d will reprove those he loves. I am thinking that even the “wrath of G-d” is a “good” thing. The Traveler Quote

Therefore, the "wrath of God" must, by definition, be good.Justice is one of the eternal attributes of God. As Christ taught, we receive wages of him whom we list to follow. The wage of sin is death, which is to say, spiritual death. The wrath of God is the just judgment of God that the unrepentant sinner cannot abide his presence. This is spiritual death, which awaits all those who do not seek after God nor respond when they find him. Quote
MarginOfError Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Your definition of good requires that an object or action have an objective value of goodness. Is this an assumption you're willing to make? What about degrees of goodness? Can a part of something come from God while the remainder doesn't? -------------- Personally, I think the Wrath of God is great so long as it is directed at my enemies and not at me (or my friends). FayetteIA Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 I am not sure either. I do know that the scriptures plainly state the Lord expects us to be humble and to follow the laws of the Gospel once we accept them. The one scripture reference that really makes me "Quake" is where the Lord says if men will not humble themselves, he will compel them to be humble. Now I don't know about anyone else here..I think it is easier to chose to be humble (obedient) rather than "Compelled" to be humble. Joni Quote

SkyWishes Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 hmm the Wrath of God, when I read that in the scriptures I think of the anger of a father with a child. It isn't blind anger it isn't malicious, it isn't even cruel. It's a frustrated kind of anger that that father wants his child so badly to succeed but his child is wasting the opputunitys he has been given. That is what I think of when I hear about the wrath of God. Hay and I guess perhaps bear in mind too, our Father in Heaven has a couple of hundred million children who are disobeying him and thats quite a lot of wrath going on there^_^ Quote
