I don't know the exact timeline, but as I was looking at the link that said "Do Mormons Practice Polygamy" I started wondering about Mitt Romney and his run for the nomination. Is it me? or does it seems as if Texas went after those polygamists in Texas, and polygamy became an everynight deal on the evening news? And of course then the sensationalist journalism on Mormons and polygamy, and so on. If I'm right (which I may not be), what timing eh?

That's been a big topic over at freerepublic.com. A lot of Mitt supporters thought that since Governor Perry was a Rudy supporter that there may have been an effort to make what was already a locally contentious issue into a world-wide media event -- and embarass Romney since most people don't differentiate between Mormon fundamentalists and mainstream Mormons.

I will check out that website.

Thank you.

Their search engine is not the best but if you type in "Romney" or "FLDS" and play around with word combinations you'll find massive threads debating the whole police-state thing in Texas and what might have prompted it.

I think that most media outlets have thrown out the window any hesitation and even attempt to be impartial. They are no longer reporting the news. They are advocating and broadcasting opinion as news, which I find offensive since they are implying that I can not analyze and discern an issue on my own based on factual information.

If "BYU News Network" (hereby hypothesized news outlet) would have reported on Rudy's twisted (he obviously did not learn anything in parochial school) upbringing and obviously checkered history (the man is an adulterer and a fornicator) and drag the history of the Catholic church out on long documentaries of the Inquisition, the scandals at the Vatican, the Cadaver Synod and other historical snippets (one of my favor ones) the backlash would have been huge. Not to mention the accusations about bigotry and lack of PC. I bet a couple of LDS chapels would have been fire-bombed.

I think it is sad and worrisome.

did you ever see any of Huckabee's sermons? they media had them, but they weren't gonna run them until Mitt was knocked out for the "mormon thing" silly keith oberman

Have you seen his sermons where he talks about Mormons? I've tried you-tubing them to post on this board, but haven't found the one I was looking for yet.

I'm sure most of you know, that he's a former minister and while he was in the beginnings of his days as governor he would often have speaking arrangements at midwest churches. My old pentecostal church was VERY anti-Mormon and would often give talks on how to convert them. One of the videos they showed us had a short clip about many minister, one including Huckabee complaining how we weren't "real" Christians and how our temples were breeding grounds for illegal activites like polygamy. It was very short, but very powerful and even at the time made me angry.

Fast-forward a few years later and he's running for president. I was eating dinner with another LDS couple (who were avid Huck supporters) and CNN flashed that clip. I've never seen someone's jaw drop so hard. Needless to say, they ditched the signs on their lawn pretty quickly.

He's got a fondness for anti-LDS vomit. I hope Romney is chosen as MC's VP running mate and he can eat his words. Along with that pooch-murdering son of his.

I'll never forget those words, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the theory concerning the YFZ ranch has some validity.

The wisdom of today's media is sensationalism and not news.

Yep, I saw the clip as well. Is no longer available on the web, mind you.

MC will never pick Mitt for VP. The upside is too small (he would bring only a s very small group opf supporters since MA is a dem. State) and the potential downside and fall out constitute too much of a political risk. MC is already weak with his own constituency and the radicals will NEVER vote for Mitt because they see him also as a potential candidate for the White House in 4 years. MC does not have the backbone to stand up and defend Mitt. He had ample opportunity during the primary and he never did. In fact, nobody from the GOP endorsed or even publicly supported MR during the primary.

That was a sad tale. No even Kennedy endured that kind of hostility being the first Catholic presidential candidate.

I guess the Huckster has recently found time to put his banjo away and is starting to badmouth Mitt Romney again. I'd link to the site but it would violate the political thing at the forum since it also discusses one of the presidnetial candidates.

Yeah, I heard about Huck's son and that dog. I'll bet the average dog resteraunt in China treats dogs more humainly.

It constantly amazes me just devious Satan can be in trying to destroy the Church. You have to wonder just what we've come to as a country when a man who made a lot of money legally, and never cheated on his wife and holds his wedding vows seriously, and goes to church, is seen as so terrible that he can't be considered.
