I'd say Joseph Smith had a much better track record than say... Paul, or Moses. He didn't have any murders on his rap sheet.

But that's not why I believe he was a prophet of the true and living God. I believe that simply for one reason. The LORD told me by revelation that Joseph was indeed a prophet, as well as Paul and Moses.

We can clearly see you are RLDS

Of course you can, since he clearly explained he was.

and thanks for your comment but unless you personally know the prophet, I would be careful with thoughts and wording. It may come back and bite you in the end.

Whenever someone gives a compliment, and them adds "but," it is a sign the compliment was nothing but a shallow introduction to what is "really true."

Dale's post was informational and interesting. Additionally, I've read Dale's posts on other boards for years. While he obviously does not share most board members' belief in the Church, on other boards he has been treated with respect, rather than belittlement, as most of the members know his comments are informational and interesting.

In fact, belittling his posts by a veiled threat of danger does not even comport with the Church's teachings.

Additionally, you should just leave it at that rather than "chastising" him for believing in doctrines you do not. He has as much right to his as you do to yours.

Elf, I do agree with his/her posting opinions. I was pointing out that it is better not to post something he has no personal knowledge of the prophet’s character but what is written by subjectiveness or some else’s opinion. We still have to report to that Godhead upon that day of our mortal deeds.

Now, claiming that I was belittling/or threat as you claimed, or even trying to read my mind from what I had post, portray an issue of poor judgment on your behalf and should be avoided in the future. Next time, PM if you believe this is an issue on your self-assumption than clicking an embarrassing post.

Be happy and smile Elf...

Hemi, I stand by everything I wrote in my post.

Be happy and smile Elf...

You too, Hemi. :)

Hmm, one of things the Book of Mormon does is show that Joseph Smith is a prophet. I think my testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith comes from the Book of Mormon. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know the Prophets in the Book of Mormon walked in the Americas. I know Jesus visited the Americas. And I know Heavenly Father brought the Book of Mormon to us thru Joseph Smith - the Lords first Prophet in this last dispensation. I know Joseph Smith is a prophet. I also know President Monson is the true Prophet of the True Church.

"I think one of the sweetest lessons taught by the Prophet, and yet one of the saddest, occurred close to the time of his death. He was required to leave his plan and vision of the Rocky Mountains and give himself up to face a court of supposed justice. "These three words: 'I am going like a lamb to the slaughter; but I am calm as a summer's morning; I have a conscience void of offense towards God, and towards all men' (D&C 135:4). That statement of the Prophet teaches us obedience to law and the importance of having a clear conscience toward God and toward our fellowmen. The Prophet Joseph Smith taught these principles -- by example. "There was to be one great final lesson before his mortal life ended. He was incarcerated in Carthage Jail with his brother Hyrum, with John Taylor, and with Willard Richards. The angry mob stormed the jail; they came up the stairway, blasphemous in their cursing, heavily armed, and began to fire at will. Hyrum was hit and died. John Taylor took several balls of fire within his bosom. The Prophet Joseph, with his pistol in hand, was attempting to defend his life and that of his bretheren, and yet he could tell from the pounding on the door that this mob would storm that door and would kill John Taylor and Willard Richards in an attempt to kill him." And so his last great act here upon the earth was to leave the door and lead Willard Richards to safety, throw the gun on the floor, and go to the window, that they might see him, that the attention of this ruthless mob might be focused upon him rather than the others. Joseph Smith gave his life. Willard Richards was spared, and John Taylor recovered from his wounds." 'Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends' (John 15:13). The Prophet Joseph Smith taught us love -- by example."

Thomas S. Monson, "By Example," New Era, Dec. 2005, 8
