Guest SisterofJared Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 The two men who have been the most important to me: My husband: I love and am amazed at his total acceptance of me. NOTHING I could do would ever turn him away from loving me. I love the way he respects and honors me and my opinions. I love the security that I feel in his arms. Even though he holds me everyday, it is still always like coming home after a long journey away. Utter Peace. I love the way he puts his hand on the small of my back when we walk someplace, or how he holds my hand, or changes places on the sidewalk to make sure he is on the outside protecting me from anything coming from the street. I love the way he got up in our teenage son's face when our son was being disrespectful and said, "You will NOT talk to your mother that way!" I love it when things are physically hard and he just sucks it up with that "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do" attitude and just gets it done. I love the fact that if it were required, he would die for any member of our family, and feel priviledged to do so. I love being with him. He is my best friend and favorite person on earth. My son in law: Although I love my husband dearly, I am aware of his weaknesses. He is an ex-ciommunicated member. Because I have never had a strong, active lds man as a part of my life, my son in law plays in important role in modeling a righteous, strong lds man. This is just part of what I love about him: He has a strong testimony and doesn't just speak it, but he lives it. He leads his family in prayer. He is a devoted husband, willing to lead patiently while giving his wife full partnership. He is a devoted father, and spends time with his 6 children... sometimes waking one in the wee hours of the morning and taking them someplace just so he can spend "daddy" time with them. He worked full time and part time AND went to school full time while being a father of three, all at the same time... just to improve his ability to provide for his family... and that is why he learned to wake the kids up early to spend time with them. He serves extremely devotedly in callings... giving up personal time, watching no tv, no liesure reading, etc... so that he can both do the Lord's work, and still have time to be a husband and father. He gives to anyone that asks. He cries during movies or when hearing touching stories. He has a strong feminine side, and is full of empathy and compassion for others, yet loves masculine things like shooting and fishing. He is the perfect balance of macho and sensitive. He honors every member of our family... each of us are treated with the same respect and love he gives his own parents, and we know he means it. I have never seen a better example in my life of someone being the kind of man the Lord wants them to be. My mother was a man-hater... my father went to prison for molesting little girls, my stepfather molested his granddaughters and my brother molested two of his sisters. My husband is excommunicated. My son in law gives me hope and belief that there ARE good men in the world, good men in the church... men who are honorable, who lead their families in righteousness and who have testimonies and the strength to live them. I desperately need to know those men exist. And I have found since being on the internet the past dozen years that the Latter Day Saint men that I meet online frequently give me that same hope and belief. As I get to know the men of this community, I thank them for the chance to see their hearts, and to have a bit of that strength touch my life. Sister of Jared Quote
