Ashley,

The Church is based on geography. This is necessary, because bishops are called by God (not man) to be over a certain geographical jurisdiction. This allows priesthood and auxiliary functions to effectively be able to serve those within their boundaries.

The bishop cannot allow you to hold a calling, etc., because he does not have that right. You do not live in his jurisdiction. Only the bishop/branch president over the area where you live has that authority and right.

While they will not kick you out of their meetings, they do not have the right from God to allow you to serve in their ward. That right resides over your priesthood leader, who resides over the area in which you live.

I would suggest you try attending your own ward/branch for a while. make some new friends there. You'll find it will be as nice as the one you are used to attending. There, you will be able to enjoy the full membership benefits that your priesthood leaders, called of God, can provide you.

Yes. The Bishop of the local ward can stop you from bearing your testimony, giving a prayer, or functioning in any teaching capacity. If a Bisop follows the council given, he will use the Spirit of Discernment in making that determination on whether it would be pleasing and uplifting to the ward family and in harmony with the Savior.

Curious here Ashley, why are you attending another ward?

Before I forget, welcome to the forum and hope that your past knowledge and your teaching abilities will bring great treasures to this website. Thanks on being here dear sister.

Hello Ashely,

Welcome to the site. I am sorry that you are going through this. I have seen many times in our ward that some member get "special" permission to attend even if they move away and that in the church boundaries.

If you have special needs like you say you have fast and pray with your family to see what HF wants you to do. And after you have prayed and fasted and still feel the same then talk to your stake president and explained your problems to him and see what can be done.

Remember though that HF wants his children to be obedient and to follow our church leaders because they are inspired to guide us.

Hope this helps,

Rainofgold:p

Wow! That many brothers and sisters? I really feel for you.

I do know under uncontrolled circumstances, allowances can be made for members to be part of formal ward and hold their records/callings. Perhaps, you should approach the Bishop and explained your plight?

talked to the state president..talked to the bishop..i dont want to bore anyone with the drama that went on when we did so..or missionaries coming to our house lying the foundation for excommunication...ha! yesss i cant believe they actually came with that suggestion..guess they didnt like the dinner..but yea..situation still messed up..

im not talking about callings..i mean that understandable..but come on i cant give a prayer in church..

One of the reasons I am aware of for this is: The people who participate in any capacity whether it be giving talks, allowed to say prayers etc are those who are in good standing with the Church. Those who might be on any kind of a disciplinary action are sometimes told they can't do these things until their situation changes.

As you are not in the ward where the Bishop has stewardship and knows of your worthiness...all they can do is say no at this point.

Yes, it is the bishop that must determine worthiness for callings and even prayers in meetings. Since he is not your bishop, he does not have the right nor responsibility given him from God to determine your worthiness.
