IronLion Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I was wondering if a divorced mother who became a member of the LDS church with no intention to remarry would be able to be in heaven with her son is he was also a lds member? Quote
Lbybug Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 my mom is divorced, twice. i was told by my seminary teacher that i will never be with my mom in the celestial kingdom because she made her decisions and knew the choices she was making. i was told by bishops and stake presidents (as was she) that we can still be together. i was extremly upset with my seminary teachers comments, but after discussing it with my bishop and others, i don't worry about it anymore. It's up to the Lord to decide, not me. Live your life the best you can to follow His word, and leave the rest to Him. Quote
pam Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 My understanding (I'm divorced as well) is if I lived a righteous life and my kids live righteous lives..it will all work out. I can't imagine a loving Heavenly Father that would deny me my kids if I were to keep my end of the bargain here on earth. Quote
john doe Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Free will still exists in the Celestial Kingdom. If you are both there and desire to associate with each other, why not? Quote
BenRaines Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Children, in most cases, will be married to their spouses. I have three daughters. Each as they marry in the temple become a new family, the family of them and their spouse. Yes they are my children but they are their family. The only union that matters to me is the one of my wife and I. The children will always be my children but will, hopefully, belong to their own eternal family. Ben Raines Quote
Starfish Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 The righteous will not be denied anything. You are loved by your Father in Heaven. Stay close to the Spirit and you'll be fine. Quote
Hemidakota Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Let me rephrase this question, can we still inherit the Celestial Kingdom not remarrying? The answer is Yes. Only the upper level of that state, we are required to be married under the Everlasting Covenant. Quote
rameumptom Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 And D&C 76 suggests there will even be contact between kingdoms, although it may be less frequent. I think God is into families and loving relationships. I do not believe he will deny us contact. Only we can deny ourselves such contact. He can limit us on our future development and growth, as well as the ability to have spirit children. But I believe that as we strive towards God, he will bless us with the loving relationships we seek. Quote
Elgama Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 I know when I was doing my Grandad's temple work both his Mother my Great Grandmother and my Grandfather were sealed to her parents - so I am sure there are ways you can be together -Charley Quote
bytor2112 Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Righteous members and non-mambers who do not marry in this life will have the opportunity in the millenium. Edited November 3, 2008 by bytor2112 Quote
countrygirl66 Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 I am sealed to my adopted family. I have 7 brothers and sisters that are sealed nowhere. I used to worry about it and when my grandpa died (he was my grandmas 3rd husband so not technically my grandpa) I wondered if that was it. If he didn't get to be my grandpa anymore. After a lot of thought and pondering, I received the confirmation (for me) that all was well. That the lords house is a house of order and I will comprehend it in time. I know this isn't much of an answer, but I wanted you to know you are not alone. Quote
IronLion Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Posted October 31, 2008 thanks for your answers. Has really cleared it up for me. Quote

bytor2112 Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 What happens if she dies prior to the Millenium? Since we will not be assigned to a kingdom of glory until the end of the millenium, she would have the opportunity to marry. The Lord is perfect and perfect in his love for us and would definitely know why we were unable to marry. Obviously, there will be many that have yet to marry in the millenium........ Quote
