Half and hour before the tip. We are playing well but "our backs are against the ropes" to catch up to SA Spurs. I hope they lose today too. That would be fun to see. The Lakers have lost four of six overall to the Nuggets but have taken 13 of 15 in the series at home.

We had 20 turn overs, it was a tough game and they pulled it out at the end. Pau banged his knee on Nene. Bryant had 28 points but we blew it in the fouth and game them too many chances (and they played well). It was close. Pau was ok but is sore. Pau had a double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds) while Bynum scored 16 rebounds. We play again on Tuesday when we host the Jazz.

#s from Sunday's game vs. Denver:

44 Paint points for both teams, the Lakers unable to take advantage of their length edge down low as Kenyon Martin and Nene battled L.A.’s bigs all night.

23 Lead changes in a back-and-forth contest. L.A.’s biggest lead was seven, at the half, and Denver’s eight.

20 Turnovers for the Lakers, certainly the stat of the game after they’d committed a total of just 26 in their previous three wins. The whole game plan against Denver was to take care of the ball and get it inside to avoid run outs from Nuggets athletes, which ended up happening at the worst time when back-to-back turnovers resulted in easy buckets in the final minutes. When asked after the game to explain the loss, Kobe Bryant said: “Turnovers.”

16 Rebounds in 30 minutes for Andrew Bynum, who added eight points, two blocks and two steals.

5 Assists off the bench for Lamar Odom, who added 17 points, seven boards and a block in a solid all-around effort. Odom made a critical three-pointer in the final minute to give the Lakers a chance to steal a win, but couldn’t hold Kenyon Martin off in what proved to be the game-clinching tip in off a missed free throw.

4 Turnovers for Pau Gasol, more than twice his average of 1.8. Gasol scored 16 points with 12 rebounds, though he did have a scare when landing awkwardly on his right knee. He returned to the game, but will go through a precautionary MRI on Monday morning.

3 losses in a row! :( We started off well in the first quarter then it was playing from behind the rest. We are better than this. It is what it is. We can take the whole thing this year if we play like we're able. Come one boys!

20 Rebounds averaged by Andrew Bynum in L.A.’s back-to-back. He had 17 against the Warriors, though just two in the second half, after setting his career high with 23 against Utah.

18 Turnovers for the Lakers, who managed just 17 assists, the third straight game in which they failed to register more assists than turnovers. They committed 19 turnovers with 19 assists against Utah, and 20 turnovers with 20 assists against Denver. In related news, all three were losses.

10 Points for Matt Barnes, the second time he’s reached double figures since returning from his knee injury on March 6. Barnes has been a low volume shooter, of course, so points aren’t the focus, but his spark caused Phil Jackson to leave him in during crunch time.

2 Games ahead of Dallas in the West in the race for the No. 2 seed. The Mavs have lost four straight games, the Lakers three, which also dropped L.A. even with the Celtics for potential home court advantage in the Finals.

0 Crunch time minutes for Ron Artest and Pau Gasol, as Jackson went with Barnes and Bynum.

9 Blazers turnovers in a well-controlled game for the home team until the fourth quarter, when they committed five of those T.O.’s.

12 Points scored by Kobe Bryant in a two-minute stretch of the second quarter, all on three-pointers. He scored 12 points total during his other 20 minutes of playing time.

13 Rebounds for Pau Gasol, with a stomach-virus ridden Andrew Bynum managing just six in his 32 minutes. Bynum had grabbed 23 and 17 in L.A.’s last two games.

20 Fastbreak points scored by the Blazers, L.A. failing to get back in transition repeatedly.

29 Shooting percentage for the Lakers in a second half in which they scored just 36 points.

Kobe picks up the technical, his 14th of the season, after bouncing the ball hard when he was called for 3 in the key.

We are in a slump and look to avoid losing 5th straight games tonight (for the first time in four years) tongith when we host OKC. The Thunder is one of two teams with faint hopes of surpassing Los Angeles in the standings. Go at em boys!

The Lakers just one game ahead of third-place Dallas and two ahead of fourth-place Oklahoma City with three more to play. The Lakers own the tiebreaker over both the Mavs and Thunder and can clinch the second seed today with a win, coupled with a Dallas home loss to reeling Phoenix. If LA doesn’t break out of its funk, however, we could fall to fourth.

Lost at home to the Nuggets Sunday in a playoff-type game, but that didn't create an ounce of panic in the locker room. There's some concern about Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum being healthy, but all attention is on the games that really count and the Lakers won't take risks just to chase down home court. They know they're the West's best.

Tonight's game vs. the Thunder. Kobe scored 31 points but the Lakers' defense struggled early and the offense was poor late Sunday in a 120-106 loss. Pau scored 26 points and somebody said, "Pau-POW!" which I liked. He really played strong tonight. With a five-game losing streak, the Lakers are tied with Dallas for second in the West with the is now Thunder one game back. I forgot to talk about Kobe's 15th T. He and Perkins got into when Perkins grabbed Kobe around the head and was playing like, "

I'm here-just wanted to let you know" sort of way.

NBA got around today to rescinding Kobe's technical foul Friday night. Now 2 away from limit. Phil was happy with about 42 to 44 minutes of our play last night. He said he thinks "he sees the signs of an ailing patient is starting to recover."
