Elgama Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I think the scipture also applies to us as individuals I know how much the Lord cares for us and when I keep the commandments I can see His love working in our life -Charley Quote
pam Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 We must also keep in mind. That doesn't mean we should all be flocking to the Americas if we live in other parts of the world. The First Presidency has advised that it's members are needed all over the world. To advance the gospel to those of all nations, tongues, and kindreds. Quote
HoosierGuy Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 The First Presidency has advised that it's members are needed all over the world. To advance the gospel to those of all nations, tongues, and kindreds. That sounds familiar. Did I hear that message during the last General Conference? Quote
rameumptom Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 Elder Christofferson encouraged us to build Zion in our various locations. That was the Nephite vision, as well, which they accomplished right after the coming of Christ (see 4 Nephi). We wish to develop such a people, also. Sadly, our people are so wrapped up in their fine clothing and apparel, and stuff, that they've tended to neglect building Zion, so they can fix up their "summer cottage in Babylon." Quote
a-train Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 Perhaps the focus here can turn to the blessed status of those living upon such a choice land. But what cannot be emphasized enough is the responsiblity attached thereto which when neglected becomes powerless to secure those blessings. The entire narrative offered by Mormon and Moroni is one example after another of the works of the people in securing and maintaining these blessings and in neglecting to do so falling victim to the consequences. It is as important for us to maintain the freedoms and blessings of this land as it is for us to proclaim the gospel, for without those freedoms, we cannot proclaim it. -a-train Quote
