I recently watched a couple movies filmed in the 50's. Both had a similar theme. The leading man was happily married, but had a brief affair, and in one movie it destroyed the marriage, in the other it nearly did. But the thing I noticed was that both movies REALLY showed the consequences. They showed the pain and sheer agony of the betrayed wife and the deep regret and shame of the husband.

It really jumped out at me because you don't see this in today's movies. You might see anger, but not the gut-wrenching pain shown in the old movies.

Also, I've noticed in old movies a much more God-centered theme. God, religion and morals just seemed to be expected.

Hollywood has been feeding us poisen bit by bit over the past several decades, and we just open our mouths and swallow.

Now that our sense are deadened and society is a crumbling mess, we run around and try to plug all the leaks in the dam, with many giving up, knowing it's going to inevitably burst.

How do we fix the dam? Government used to be on our side. They regulated the moral level of movies and TV. Am I for censorship? I guess I am!

I think Satan has an influence in Hollywood - and yes I believe in and practice censorship, mostly for myself. Having some connections in Hollywood even actors find more joy and fulfillment in playing evil or at least the dark side of characters. I have yet to understand why?

I just found this quote from President Hinckley describes how i feel.

LDS.org - Liahona Article - The Continuing Search for Truth

Let us not be trapped by the deceptive arguments of the world, which for the most part are negative and which so often bear sour fruit. Let us walk with faith in the future, speaking with optimism and developing an attitude of confidence. As we do so, our strength will give strength to others.

On one occasion when the Savior was walking among a crowd, a woman who had long been sick touched his garment. He perceived that strength had gone out of him. The strength that was his had strengthened her. So it may be with each of us.

Said the Lord to Peter:

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

“But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” (Luke 22:31–32.)

Let us not partake of the negative spirit so prominent in our times. There is so much of the sweet and the decent and the beautiful to build upon. We are partakers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel means “good news!” The message of the Lord is one of hope and salvation! The voice of the Lord is a voice of glad tidings! The work of the Lord is a work of glorious accomplishment!

In a dark and troubled hour the Lord said to those he loved: “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27.)

These great words of confidence are a beacon to each of us. In him we may indeed have trust. For he and his promises will never fail.

In many ways the world is better and more comfortable for most of us on the board than it has ever been I think its sad that people are constantly looking for evil instead of truly appreciating the good, over past few years I have seen a resurgence in religion and its certainly easier to get hold of religious things in my country than it was a few years ago. And I know plenty people born in the 1940s who are a lot less moral than my own generation. Most of my friends are settled in happy relationships with great kids or have not had a relationship, very few sleep around, its our parents born before all these awful shows that are divorced and sleep around.

Hollywood for the most part is a tool - no, actulayy an abode of Satan. Yes, I watch stuff on TV and some movies, but what I see many times disgusts me. I won't even name any particular shows, past or present.

Except I used to love Gilligans Island - that was pretty much good clean fun if you could overlook Gingers nonsense... and we still have the DVDs!

The stuff today is nothing but sex, adultery, violence, and satanism. Well, 98.8 % probably.

I am glad we are not saying 100-PERCENT. There are great channels on the air that does not display this type of lifestyle.

True. Are they Hollywood channels or play Hollywood programs? There are other places that run channels and play shows made elsewhere. Just wondering.... and I wonder what the statistics would show....?
