nzorient Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Hi there, I'm grateful I found this site, it's my first time here and there is so much support and information as I've read through many posts in this forum. I'd be grateful if someone could answer this question, if a couples gets sealed in the temple but one goes inactive, is the active member still entitled to enter into the Celestial Kingdom? I know someone in this position and the active member is trying hard to live the gospel but I can feel there is a sense of sorrow - I really want to give them some comfort. There is probably unrevealed doctrine about this but if anyone could give insite, would be helpful. Thanks in advance! Quote
georgia2 Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 When a person makes a covenant with Heavely Father, no one other than that person can change it. If a couple are sealed and one spouse isn't living up to their part, the promises made to the worthy one are still valid. If for some reason one of them isn't worthy to enter into the celestial kingdom when that time comes, the worthy one will not be punished for what the other did. We are not capable of judging what others do. Only Father in Heaven knows all to be able to judge all. If ultimately one is found not worthy to enter. the worthy one will still receive their blessing and probably be given the opportunity of being with another whose spouse did the same thing. This may sound a little harsh, but He who knows all will not do anything that will make us unhappy in the next life. The important thing is to keep your covenant. Quote
BenRaines Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Eternal Marriage is not a requirement to obtain the Celestial Kingdom, so yes if someone keeps their covenants they can obtain the Celestial Kingdom. Ben Raines Quote

A seal cannot be broken, hence why it's called seal. Quote

BenRaines Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 My response was to OP question. Do they need to? No. Should they want to? For sure. Does anyone train for the Olympics to get the bronze medal? Ben Raines Quote
