marshac Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 Thanks for all the ideas and info- i'll start stockpiling diapers from Costco.... is about 10 diapers/day about right? How quickly does a kid go from "size 1" to "size 2" on average? Milk- Those look cool. I want one for myself... Honor- I hope you'll forgive me if I don't engage in any qualitative research... Quote
talisyn Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Mrs Marshac is pregnant. She just called me (i'm visiting my parents for easter). Since this is our first kid, I would welcome any input as to what kind of things would be useful to get, things we should do, etc :)Also- how do kids work in the church? I saw some naming ceremony or something a few weeks back at church, but wasn't quite sure what it was for.Major congrats, that's awesome! My advice is take full advantage of whatever naps your baby will take. I didn't really understand how much I needed them until my daughter stopped all of a sudden at age 2. Don't be afraid to put the baby in a bouncer or car seat in front of the TV for a short break. Grab your wife and do a nice slow dance while 'Dora the Explorer' is playing, it'll do wonders for you and your baby really won't suffer permanent damage if used occasionally. Last of all, be nice to your wife. She's going to be doing some really strange hormonally-influenced stuff for the next year or so. Good luck! Quote

applepansy Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Congrats! Remember kids do NOT come with an instruction manual. Involve the Lord in all aspects of child-rearing. He knows you. He know your wife. AND HE KNOWS your child more than you ever will. Rely on HIM. applepansy Quote
Maureen Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Congratulations marshac and Mrs marshac! My advice would be to make the baby the boss for the first year; which means whatever the baby wants the baby gets. Then from one to two teach baby that daddy and mommy are now the boss and you'll be preparing yourself for the terrible two's. :) And watch out for that projectile vomiting, some babies do it and some don't, you never know until it happens. :) Good luck and have fun, babies are the best!!
