Why Val Kilmer? He's completely wrong for the part.

For sure he looks nothing like JS. I would suggest Jeff Goldblum--at least he has the nose for it, a has a certain resemblence from some angles.

I had never heard of Christian Bale....

That's just crazy, never heard of Christian Bale - what planet are you from? :)

He starred in a surprisingly good film called Reign of Fire, and uttered one of my favorite lines:

Only one thing worse than dragons and that's Americans. :P

You should rent it sometime.

M.

I seen it at the movie house but dinna think it was so gud that I needed to remember who were in it.

That's because you are a man.

Or perhaps it's because you don't like dragons or anyone who lives outside the state of California?

It's hard to believe that Christian Bale was that skinny kid in "Empire of the Sun."

He's a bit too Jewish. Although, I think Joseph Smith was supposed to be a literal descendant of the biblical Joseph, so maybe it wouldn't be such a stretch! :)

I don't know who Christian Bale is, either. :o

He's a skinny little pasty white kid who grew into the ultimate buff tan man. (he's quite a fine actor too.)

I love watching Jeff Goldblum, but don't you think he would be too comical?

Jeff has played some pretty serious parts. I'm not sure what you mean by comical. I guess it depends upon how you view JS!

I have always been a Jeff Goldblum fan dating back to his TV series, Tenspeed and Brownshoes. But, the problems with Goldblum is that his personality is so distinctive that he basically only can play one character and that character is Goldblum. His Goldblumitude shine though ever facade he put up. It is not always so prominent as in his campiest roles (Jurassic Park, The Fly, Earth Girls are Easy) but it's always there, right up front, bigger than the part he is actually trying to play.

I couldn't say anything about Joseph Smith, since I have never had to opportunity to see him act, as himself or anybody else. I think that Snow's "Goldblumitude" is exactly the word I would use to describe Goldblum. I think he is wonderful, but I can always see the humor, or comic in him in the things I've seen. That's one of the things I love about watching him.....he makes me laugh. Now I know he was in some very serious roles, but alas....I haven't had the chance to see him in most of those roles. But, I am sure that he shined in anything he did.

How about Josh Lucas? He was in Sweet Home Alabama and A Beautiful Mind...handsome, but not pretty, with a prominent nose.

I love Jeff Goldblum, but cannot picture him doing this.

I could go along with this suggestion. What is his personality like, though?
