Maya Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Here are a few places from the scriptures where sisters and brothers are mentioned where it do not mean a familystatus. First how should we act thowards our fellow people? Rom. 12: 10 affectioned one to another with brotherly love. Heb. 13: 1 Let brotherly love continue. 1 Pet. 2: 17 Love the brotherhood. 1 Pet. 3: 8 compassion one of another, love as brethren. 2 Pet. 1: 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 1 Jn. 2: 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 1 Jn. 3: 14 we have . . . life, because we love the brethren. D&C 4: 6 temperance, patience, brotherly kindness. D&C 38: 24 esteem his brother as himself. Love that we learn in the family should be used also thowards everyone else. We should help our brothers adn sisters alike we should help the brothers and sisters in our family. Deut. 15: 7 not harden thine heart . . . from thy poor brother. Deut. 22: 1 see thy brother’s ox or his sheep go astray. James 2: 15 If a brother or sister be naked. Ps. 35: 14 as though he had been my friend or brother. 1 Tim. 5: 2 elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters. When we do that we become a big family and: Heb. 2: 11 he is not ashamed to call them brethren. D&C 88: 133 friend and brother through the grace of God. This is a way to get closer to God and Jeesus: Mosiah 5: 7 have become his sons and his daughters. Matt. 12: 50 (Mark 3: 35)For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven the same is my brother, and sister, and mother And if someone has done something wrong we should: 2 Thes. 3: 15 not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. Because: D&C 42: 88 if thy brother or sister offend thee. Prov. 18: 19 A brother offended is harder to be won. Love of God and Hate of ones brother can not excist in the same person if he/she wants to get back home. 1 Jn. 4: 20 love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar. We are called sisters and brothers all of us. Here some Biblical referances that show we are Gods Spirit Children: Hebrews 12:9 Where Hevenly Father is called Father of Spirits. Eccel. 12:7 spirit shal return to God who gave it. Jeremiah 1: Where God tells Jeremia that he knew him already before he was born. This can not happen if we would not excist before beeing born here. Job 1:6 tells that Satan was among sons of God, so he must be our brother.... Actually my children are not mine, but my HFs he just borrowed them to me. Maybe someday I can make children of my own... spiritchildre... In other words be good to your sisters and brothers, do unto them what you want them to do unto you. That is what God wants us to do.Why is it so important? See above Prov 18:19 God wants all his children back. How difficult it is when we go around and hurt one an other all teh time. Sometimes it is hard to be quiet and not to hit back, even harder is to ask for forgiveness. So many spirits are lost today because of hurt they once experienced. But we do have a choise to be hurt or not to. If we hear everyone else was invided to a party but not us... we can choose to get hurt or not. Ofcourse it hurts, but we do not need to cherish the hurt or hit back. We can just leave it and smile and find something cooler to do. Lets find someone, a sister or a brother, this week whom we can make happy by a small thing. Out of small things comes the big ones.... Quote
spiritseeker Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 I had something that happened today that shows how something small can make a difference. I belong to another forum site for survivors of abuse and I shared my faith and the trials that still come up. And a brother I don't know on that site wrote me an email and said some of the most encouraging and thoughtful words and ended it with how he submitted my name to the Salt Lake Temple Roll. (Look here I am crying again...) It meant so much to me because someone who doesn't really know me took the time to care for a fellow Saint... I am here in New York and He is in Utah. (I know on some other threads there have been comments about the supposed negativity of Utah Mormons well, I don't see it.) I am so thankful for this Church and thank Heavenly Father for all of you and especially for the two wonderful elders who took the time to help a nobody become a somebody. Quote
the Ogre Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 . . . (I know on some other threads there have been comments about the supposed negativity of Utah Mormons well, I don't see it.) . . .Uhhhh . . . well, as one who complains about Utah Mormons, I have to admit I'm a Utah Mormon and sometimes I'm not very nice (in fact, I hate being nice, it seems so superficial, but I practice). Maybe when I am saying things like that I am only speaking into the mirror or only recognizing what is common in most societies. On this site, I know some great Utah Mormons. I could be wrong (but I reserve that admission for a later date, I want a more aggregate movement towards "niciness" than is happening now). Quote
