Franken Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 We've got about 12 priests, 16 deacons and 14 teachers, so we usually don't run out of young men in our ward. Quote
Dell Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 I have a question to should i be taking sacrament if i am not a member but want to be baptized in the religion but my parents wont let me Im in love with my boy friend huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh Quote
JLycett Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 We have no priests and 2 deacons so the Mel. priesthood has to do the work. Dell Talk to your local bishop and see what he has to say about you taking the sacrament. I had a simalar problem when I was 15 my parents said no it took me 15 years to join the church Quote
Jbs2763 Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 in my home ward....usually 3 decaons, 1 preist and 3 HP lol singles ward 6 elders Quote
Heckya Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 Isn't taking the sacrament like renewing the commitments you made to Christ when you were baptised? That's how I understand it, but I'm still learning this stuff. Anyhow, if that is the case, then you don't need to take the sacrament until after you are baptised. Quote
ztodd Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 I have a question to should i be taking sacrament if i am not a member but want to be baptized in the religion but my parents wont let me Im in love with my boy friend huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhYou don't have to or need to but you can if you want to. It just won't have the same meaning for you as it does for the others. For those who were baptized it is a symbol of renewing their covenants they made at their baptism. Quote
tubaloth Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 I have a question to should i be taking sacrament if i am not a member but want to be baptized in the religion but my parents wont let me I would hope your reasons for joining the church are a lot more then a love for your boyfriend. Like know the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a prophet (and had the first vision). that the priesthood has been restored and revelation is on the earth, and that there are prophets on the earth today. As far as your question, generally non-members don't take the sacrament until after they have ben baptised. But if you do have questions ask the missionaries (I assume you are meeting with them)> Quote
HoosierGuy Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 I was just given the Aaronic Priesthood on Sunday. Beforeservices one of the members told me to keep my eyes open and watchhow they pass the bread and water. From the sound of it, I guessI will be passing soon. I hope I don’t mess up when they ask me! Hey, it's my first post in the Priesthood Quorum forum! This evening I hung up the certificate on the wall! Quote
Flyonthewall Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 In our ward we have 3 priests assigned to bless the sacrament, and 8 positions for passing the sacrement. Normally there aren't enough deacons to fill all 8 spots, so a few of the teachers will help out. All in all, there are only a couple of YM that are not needed to fullfill all the assigned duties. Elgama Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 In my branch 2 priesthood holders bless the sacrament and 2 pass it - whoever is available does the job I remember my husband wearing a coloured shirt (he had only ever lived in a ward) because he didn't want to bless the sacrament - I just grinned to myself sure enough he was asked, any shirt or no shirt does when you have a shortage. -Charley Quote
SMG Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 It depends what time of year for my ward. When school is in session, we usually have enough young men to take care of the sacrament. In the summer time and when there seems to be an illness going around town is when we see the Mel. priesthood holders pitching in. Last week, we had a few high priests helping with the sacrament, due to a bout of whooping cough ripping through the county. Quote
